Q: Can it connect continuously like the Cyrix and others? It will take over twice as long to charge if it's disconnected so much of the time.

The purpose of this is to protect the alternator. If it was continously charging the alternator could overheat.

Q: What are the factors to consider when choosing either 160A model or 225A model? Thank you

225A is rated for Lithium batteries. 160A is not.

Q: What gauge wire do I have to run between the house battery (lithium) to the isolate and then from the isolater to the car battery?

I ran 2 gauge wire up to the front so that you have the best bet of the coach batteries being able to start the engine when you tether them together.

Q: I assume this unit replaces the old mechanical bim 00-10021-000. the wiring appears the same, so i assume its also plug and play?

For the most part, yes. I used it to replace my auto charging and aux start relay in my BCC for my RV. This was needed to protect my alternator from overheating due to my upgraded lithium battery install on my coach.
