I started using this almost immediately after it arrived. I have ground up stump remover (potassium nitrate), kitty litter, and charcoal with it. The kitty litter was the most difficult, but all the materials were turned to powder with a bit of effort and time. This material is all for making home made rockets. This mortar and pestle were the perfect size and I think they will last a long time. Easy clean up with just water and a paper towel. The key to success is to not put too much material in at one time.

It is strong and does its job. Its "porous" within the bottom of the bowl so whatever you are grinding gets stuck in the pours and it can be hard to scrap off.

Highly recommend this product. Very affordable and quality made. Get's the job done. Nice finish makes it easier to clean.

It looked dirty inside so I put it through the dishwasher and it looked the same after. Serves it's purpose, but to nasty looking to leave out on the counter for display!

I love my mortar. I have a hard time swallowing big vitamins so I purchases this. It's just right for my needs and it crushes pills and other small stuff great. I have finely grounded sea salt, pepper, and other spices in it as well. Works great and has a nice heavy weight.

Well i will start by saying that for the price, i got what i paid for.The bottom of the bowl has a few cracks/chips. Not that it broke but it looks like it shrunk while it was being fired.The bowl and mortar is a bit porous, should be ok for some chemicals but not good at all for avoiding contamination.It might be a case of having one set per chemical.I would hope the quality control on these would improve, if it does i can see ordering more but as it stands, no i wouldn’t recommend them.

I am a veterinarian and use this to grind up pills to make into liquid suspension for my smaller patients. This product works well and is a good size to grind up a single pill or several at once. The grinding surfaces are not quite as smooth as my previous mortar and pestle, so more of the medication gets stuck to the surface, but they do clean off easily and medication loss is pretty minimal. I would recommend it for this use, and the pour spout works better than my last set.
