Let's Hatch Chicks!: Explore the Wonderful World of Chickens and Eggs

Very cute. Geared for little kids, but with lots of information for novice chicken moms, like me, trying learn as much as possible! Will be giving to my little 5 year old grand-niece for her birthday. They have chickens, but she doesn't know about little chicks, other than they're cute and fragile, and mom sits on the eggs until they hatch. Great way to explain to her what is happening for the next batch of chicks!

So I purchased this for my daughter’s class while they hatch chicken eggs. Her class is kindergarten and some parts are a bit to detailed. Her teacher is going to skip those parts, but the info and rest of the book is great.I would say kids over 8 would be great for.

This is an adorable story, with factual information, about a ‘real’ hen named Violet, who hatched her baby chicks.Pictures are precious, good story with a glossary in the back. Great story for children and adults alike!As an educator, I love good story books with true facts!

This book has beautiful illustrations and greatly surpassed my expectations in terms of practical information that is presented in a way that engages kids! We homeschool so I’m always on the lookout for great books on any subject. We hatched chicks this spring, and I ordered this to read with my 4-year-old. To my delight, it was engaging enough that my 8 & 9 year olds loved it too! Cant recommend it highly enough!!

I've been using this to read to a 1st and 2nd grade classroom as I hatch chicks in that classroom. I read a few pages every time I come in to candle so we can follow along with the eggs in the incubator. It's perfect. Thank you.

This book tells how Violet becomes a mother hen. It also tells how to hatch eggs in the incubator.The illustrations are wonderful! I can’t wait for my grandchildren to come to read it to them.

Yesterday I read this book to 5 of my grandchildren. Their ages 9-15. Their school hatches chicks every spring, so I was curious what they were actually taught about the process. They all loved the book, youngest to oldest and had questions so it gave opportunity for discussion. They had ideas for what they could do in school this year to let the students be more involved and informed (the older ones) and the younger ones carried on about how the kids were picking the chicks up all wrong! There were many things they were not taught and can't wait to share the book with their teacher. They loved the pictures and wondered if Lisa had drawn them. LOL It's a wonderful book and I highly recommend it!! Certainly not a "baby" book about chickens, but for curious minds it's awesome!
