Dead battery on arrival.
Wow, most devices have a plastic tab to protect the discharge of the battery, this did not. In the midst of my first covid case, I found all my thermometers had dead batteries, so I just ordered a new thermometer. This one came dead on arrival. So I ordered a bunch of batteries and have a thermometer for each room. This thermometer is awesome, soooooo fast!!!

Won't turn on
Like others have said. Upon removing from packaging, will not turn on. Tried pressing & holding button. Still nothing. No battery protective plastic tab to preserve charge until customer receives. Shouldn't have to buy & replace a battery. Also, makes me wonder if that would even solve the issue. I've used Vicks thermometers (different style) for years as a veterinary tech w/o issue.

Excellent Thermometer
Looks great, works even better, and is so simple to use. I remember how complicated some thermometers seemed when I was a kid with those glass ones...man, people have it easy now, haha. Great price and great purchase.

Shipped with dead battery
Didnt work. Contacted Vicks. Said they licensed the product to another company -Kaz - they sent an email saying they’d get back to me in 1-2 days. Haven’t heard anything. Update: company responded. I’ll update when resolved but now see many reviewers complained of deliveries with dead batteries. Vicks responded not their problem , contact seller. No way found to contact seller. Amazon, finally, refunded the cost via a credit. Which went partly to buying batteries which brought the thermometer back to life. They ship them with dead batteries.

Thermometer I received was inaccurate but consistent readings with the stated resolution
This Vicks RapidRead Digital Thermometer that I bought was good in all ways except the most important one. It reads approximately 1 degree Fahrenheit too high. The instructions provide no instructions for testing and recalibrating in a water bath at either boiling or ice bath conditions. It was cheap enough that it is not worth the hassle to return it. I bought a different brand and it is consistent with measurements I’ve had over the last 60+ years of my life.
