Counterpart (The Gemdark Dynasty Book 1)

COUNTERPART HAS DESTROYED ME and the book hangover is so real. UGH this was seriously so goood, oh my GOD. I found Leda’s story to be so compelling and I legitimately cannot get Pyrrhus off the brain, he’s everywhere and nothing else matters, I’m lost without him!! It’s not often a young adult book captivates me so deeply, leaving me shaken to the bones, so believe me when I tell you that if you’re a historical fantasy fan, THIS ONE IS A MUST.

This book is filled with the deepest horror and the greatest courage. The role of a Counterpart is one of the darkest machinations of a truly evil king. Leda has amazing strength given what she's been through. The darkness of the relationships of the king's legitimate children runs throughout the storyline. Through it all there's deep love that is left for different reasons. Fabulous book, will go right into book two!

A brutal, engrossing story. I didn’t really know what to expect and it did exceeded my expectations but it’s very dark. It is clean but violent. This is a really good author. I liked the heroine she always had hope. I think the writing is very well done.

Great development of a country ruled by fear and terror, and the amazing characters who survive!! Well worth indulging in.
