Bought this to replace our existing plug in compact Ring cam. The cable was too short and we could mount it as high as we wanted. So upgraded to a battery one. Mounted the camera in the corner foe the best viewing angle.

It pays to update your technology. There are more features, including a disarm button in the app for this camera, so I can turn it off when landscape workers and repairmen are working near it. This is not available in my older cameras. So - love it.

Ordered the "wired" camera and it works fine. Have the Ring Protect Plus. Rec'd a trial of the SOS feature. Then showed it was deactivated and if wanted I would have to upgrade to the Protect Pro, which I did. That plan, if paid for a year, is $200.00. When I tried to activate the SOS, it was at that time I learned it doesn't work unless you have their Professional Alarm program at $99.00 p/month making this about $1400.00 p/year. Cheaper to dial 911. I had to call customer service, get them to xl the plan and put me back to the Protect Plus and refund my credit card. In talking with RING, all seemed to dodge around needing the extra program and the information given is not forthcoming that, in fact, you need still the $99.00 p/month in order to have the SOS which the Protect Pro at a cost of $200.00 p/year bumps the overall cost up. I have a wired alarm system, monitored already. Would have been nice to have the SOS function.

The media could not be loaded.  This camera records great night time videos. It started recording in black and white then seconds later switch to color. One thing that puzzle me is that after the initial 20 sec recording of this neighborhood cat on my deck and peeing on the cat bed... there is no video on this. Eventually the cat jumped off the lounge chair and left the deck, but it has no recording. I have a camera below the deck, and this camera would show my cat walking down the stairs, and the lower camera would start recording when my cat reached the backyard. After that camera recorded 20 seconds. There is no videos on my cat walking back up to the deck. Neither of the 2 cameras picked that up. It seemed like there is a gap once the recording stop and before it records again.

I changed my mind, video quality is great and wide angle is awesome. Nip complaints here!!! I could definitely use one more ;-)

This camera is listed as being able to be mounted on a ceiling and also shows in the directions as to how it is to be mounted. The problem is that you mount as instructed and your picture is upside down and cannot be changed. It is not noted anywhere that you must buy a completely different mount to be able to mount to a ceiling and get a proper picture. False product description.

I've got a ring doorbell hard wired. Excellent picture quality. I have another ring camera in my garage that is hard wired, excellent picture quality..With this solar light, I have the panel on the south side of the house getting 12+ hours of direct sunlight daily. It stays charged continuously. I am happy for that. But the image quality is just ok. The first 3 seconds of the video is grainy (see attached picture) then it will suddenly come into focus. I hate the fact that for 3 seconds I am not getting high quality. I don't know why the first few seconds do this. On top of that, the picture quality is fair. It is half the quality of a hardwired system.I have a cheapo $35 chargeable no name camera that I got which I keep on the deck and it works much better in regards to picture quality. I got the ring because I did not want to fiddle with having to bring it inside and charge it and I had nowhere outside to plug it in. I am happy to have a camera but not happy at all with the picture quality of it. Must be due to it being solar is all I can think of.
