Sister sister
"Venus and Serena" follows the tennis stars during 2011, when Serena was coming back from a series of severe injuries and Venus was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. At the time, it was unclear whether either sister would be able to play much longer. This material is presented along with archival interviews dating back to when the sisters were girls in Compton, California, as well as film of other key events in their lives. The movie presents a nice balance between their tennis careers and personal lives. Obviously, this documentary is going to appeal most to fans of Venus and/or Serena. I like both of them and am a huge Serena fan in particular. I read articles about them routinely, so there wasn't a great deal new here for me, but it was still interesting. The story of two sisters from Compton becoming the best tennis players of their generation is amazing no matter how many times it's told, imo.I was disappointed that Venus' role in helping get women get equal prize money wasn't discussed; overall, Venus is given a bit less attention and too often painted simply as a 'protector' to Serena. Also, there wasn't much behind-the-scenes information as I hoped. For example, there are numerous people always around the sisters, but they are rarely introduced. Finally, the interviews made for the documentary are just ordinary - I don't recall any earth-shattering insights. But then Venus and Serena both tend to play things pretty close to the vest. I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary, and I think fans will as well. Others will probably want to skip this movie.

THE FABULOUS WILLIAMS SISTERS and FAMILY!
Already being a HUGE fan of Venus and Serena Williams and an owner of "Raising Tennis Aces- The Williams Story", 2002, I was elated to see another wonderful film highlighting the intimate parts of their lives."Venus and Serena" expands beyond just what the two sisters have done in their illustrious careers through 2011. This films gives the viewer an opportunity to hear their mother Oracene Price speak very candidly when giving Serena advice on beating the "crap" out of her opponents and even giving a "word" of advice to Mr. Williams new wife. You also get to see the "never-quit" spirit that each one continues to harness as they struggle through physical ailments. The workouts that the sisters endure while rehabing are intense; this is what separates these two sisters from the rest. Their persevearance is astonishing, as is their love for one another. It is well known that Serena and Venus already have an incredibly deep bond, and this movie just enhances the fibers of that relationship even more. These two are co-joined in heart, spirit and love. Their connection jumps off of the screen as they speak to one another and about one another. Their devotion, though, is not just limited to one another, but their entire entourage as well. This is a "must see" movie for any fan or curious seeker of why these two women are the phenomenal dominant game changers to ever grace the tennis courts. Venus and Serena Williams are a force to be reckoned with! Testimonies by their parents, former coaches, John McEnroe, former President Bill Clinton, comedienne Chris Rock, Editor of Vogue Ana Wintour and many more contribute to that sentiment. These are two fabulous sisters with extraordinary talent, family and love.

Coach/ Trainer
She only asked him not to ALWAYS the the ball to her. Make her work. When I'm out there playing a real game, they want to kill me. They DON'T like me. I didn't ask you to LIKE my post. I DON'T need YOU'RE OK. Post it, or NOT. I'm still me. You guys are ticking me off, that you have to review me before print. She said this. He was playing her for a punk. The person playing her is NOT going to serve the ball to her. I DON'T need your approval to share my post. If you don't want to, don't. Your loss.

Life As Art
I am a new fan of tennis, after going to the finals match in 2012 at Indian Wells. I'm 53 and my entire life I have been interested in the arts. It is not until seeing a live tennis match that I realized the artistry of tennis and elite sports in general. Little by little I've come to appreciate this sport more, until at this point I'm an avid fan. I am enthralled with the dedication, perseverance, commitment and will power that go into elite sports. And then there is that special "it" factor, which makes someone a champion. This film is a real life fairy tale. Hope, dreams and faith transform the lives of these 2 sisters, whose Prince Charming is their family and the game of tennis. The canvas of their family, their dedication to these two gifted children, and then the course of their lives as the dreams become reality amidst all the struggles is a work of art in itself. It's years and years of collective work and determination to create something truly fabulous and beautiful. It's stunning. It's inspiring. I don't see how anyone can not be touched by this incredible true story. Bravo, bravo, bravo!

Champions
Excellent documentary ranging from the making to the sustaining of two champions. Venus and Serena - two of the greatest to ever step on the court. The tennis is placed in the context of the entire lives, so it's not just a "greatest hits," story. A must-watch for all tennis fans. They literally transformed the game in so many ways.

The Legendary Williams Sisters!
I've been a fan of the Williams sisters for decades now. They changed the sport of Tennis forever! The documentary touched on their life and the 2011 Tennis season. There are some things I didn't know about the Williams sisters, but appreciate the candor shown by them. Richard Williams and Oracene (sp) Price raised a great family.

Straight Outta Compton
This documentary is about the extraordinary rise of the Williams sisters to becoming arguably worldโs greatest tennis players. If you are a fan of these two tennis playing sisters this dvd is an absolute must or if you are just curious to find out how they have achieved their position in the sport. The dvd has video footage of them playing tennis on public courts and being interviewed as kids growing up in a rough part of Los Angeles. It is very much a warts and all documentary as the cameraโs followed them through out the 2011 season, starting with Serena coming back from a life threatening illness.A very inspirational and uplifting story of these two sporting sisters.
