Shelly Plus 1 WiFi Switch 4-Pack

These are great for home automation. They are controlled by WiFi or Bluetooth. In general, you'll probably just use Bluetooth for initial setup and then, once it's logged into your Wifi, you'll turn the Bluetooth off and just control it using Wifi.It can be controlled locally without needing a cloud service, which is unusual nowadays. It's running an ESP microcontroller, which is quite powerful, so the software on it is quite feature-rich. Eg, it has its own web interface (served by the switch, not a cloud service), can act as a Wifi range extender, it can talk to an MQTT broker, the action of the 'switch' input can be altered (eg between toggle and momentary), it can have timers as well as schedules, it can trigger webhooks, it can run scripts (a subset of Javascript) etc. This is all done on the device itself - no need for cloud service.You can enable the cloud service if you want, so you can control the switch away from your home network, but that's optional.The only reason for the lost star is that the screw terminals on it are quite weak. I broke one while tightening up the mains connections to it by stripping the thread, even though I was only tightening by hand. Mains connections should be tight, so this is a bit concerning.

I've got approx 10 sonoff mini's in my house currently, love the device, they works well.I've just set up my first Shelly Plus device, as I needed a 12v supply support. It works amazingly.The product is by far superior to sonoff in every way. It comes with good, reliable software.Super easy to set up, super easy to configure, super easy to link into home assistant. Auto discovered, "add", and it's complete.No more flashing with tasmota, there is no need - shelly software gives me the majority of the feature set of tasmota, without having to mess about/ hack and set random varaible values from a cheat sheet.I'm a local-only smart home, anything reliant on cloud isn't an option - but the shelly software platform allows for local control and even the ability to disable the cloud connection without the web UI.Honestly, any future project that requires a relay will now be using a shelly. Annoyed I didn't start using them earlier!

Very compact and easy to install, nice quality terminals but surprised they are not better insulated / covered. The software is very easy to install, setup and use and convenient to access via web or locally using bluetooth. It is possible to setup to use Shelly devices to work with Apple HomeKit through a third party cloud but I prefer to just use the Shelly app to control as it has all the features I need and doesn't require a dedicated hub.
