Malayalam Alphabet: Practice Workbook Review: Useful for learning Malayalam script - The book is a series of pages on which you can practice writing the Malayalam script. Directions for how to form the symbol are given at the top of the page, and the symbols are printed below in horizontal rows. The reader traces over each symbol to practice writing it, and each line shows smaller copies of the symbol to use as your writing improves. It is helpful to learn the alphabet in the first place, and a useful practice in writing thereafter. I can recommend it especially for new students of Malayalam. Review: Great workbook for beginners - This helps me learn how to draw the letters and where to start. Great workbook for me to learn!

Very well Worth your time and money
Malayalam Alphabet Practice Workbook by John Kunnathu and Lissy John is very well organized with mainly English speaking people/kids in mind. Equivalent English sound for all vowels and consonants with a practice page is given for each letter. To help beginners, arrows are shown in the direction in which each letter is written. It also covers stressed consonants, consonant combinations, short form of consonants and consonants without a vowel. The book ends with some common words and sentences which also give a short history of the Malayalam language. The book provides a plan to learn the language in 6 weeks. The Kunnathu’s experience as educators is very well displayed in the structure and the content of the book. I highly recommend this book for all beginners.

Better than expected
This is a very practical book for my 5 year old. She can relate to the English letter comparison. So far she has no issues sitting down and learning the Malayalam letters.

Not properly printed or probably error from writer
The book doesn't have a sequence. Either the printer got it wrong because of it being a different language or the author wasn't familiar. Some alphabets are also missing.

I wanted to learn the Malayalam alphabet from scratch, as a total beginner I have to say that this book is great for this purpose. At first I wasn't sure if it was worth the money, since you can find a lot of information online as well. However, in the book it's explained how to write each letter, in addition to a description what it sounds like. It also advises you to search online for an audio of the pronunciation for each letter. For each letter, there are six columns. The book advises you to fill in one column per week and then move on to the next letter, so that you will have finished the book in 6 weeks mimimum. At the end of the book, there are some words and sentences to practice as well. In my opinion, they could have added a few more pages with words and sentences to practice, but you can find this easily online too. All in all, I think it's definitely worth buying this book, I think it helped me a lot to write and understand the meaning of each letter.

Without listening to the sounds, you ll not be able to successfully learn to pronounce them… Moreover, the list in the back is a joke because what s the use of verbs in the simple past for a beginner? Where are the first small talk phrases? Not recommendable like most of the Malayalam study books ok the market :/ Get an app!
