This surprisingly cheap phone has multiple functions and is great as a house phone.
So many functions it was a bit bewildering at first. However once set up it is easy to operate. Good sound quality. Good value for money

Complex but mostly usable
This telephone was supplied with the appropriate UK plug along with a "junction box" that turned out to be a socket with two wires that weren't connected to anything. Apart from this useless box, the phone seems well made, having an LCD screen with adjustable contrast making it readable whether the phone is laid flat or wall mounted. The blue backlight is a nice bonus (this requires 3 AA batteries to be inserted). The display has two lines separated by a status line (with indicators for new and repeat calls, mail and day of week). The top line shows the current date and time (which the phone is able to get from the exchange) plus a count of received calls. The bottom (slightly larger) line normally shows the last caller number, but changes to show the current dialled number when making a call or the selected number when scrolling through sent/received call lists.A speaker and microphone are present to allow for hands-free use and ringtone and volume can be changed (but not silenced completely). 4 volume levels and 8 ringtones are available (a separate ringtone can be set for certain incoming "VIP" calls). Callers can be put on hold which results in a truly ghastly electronic version of Beethoven's "Für Elise" - this would seem fitting punishment for the increasing number of scam callers but is played over the loudspeaker unless another extension is active (to preserve sanity, use another extension to speak with the scammer, press "Hold" on this phone to start the torture and then set both units aside).Up to three alarm times can be set and the phone can be configured for pulse dialling (it is set to tone by default). The 17-page manual is minimalist but clear in explaining setup and usage, with good English and logical layout. This telephone has a few unusual features:* a key-operated switch which allows you to restrict outgoing calls to local numbers, or prevent them altogether. The key is only a small plastic tool, so this is unlikely to offer much real security;* line-tapping protection - all this does is play tones when another extension is picked up, stopping it from making calls. You can still monitor calls made with this phone using an extension though;* Auto-IP - a prefix can be set up which is dialled before any number starting with 0;* a calculator - but the functions (+, -, x, ÷) are too widely separated, making it awkward to use.Downsides:* surprisingly, given all the other features, there are only two memory buttons to store phone numbers (it does store the last 5 numbers dialled and last 30 incoming calls);* no mute control;* long delivery time (shipped from China).

Very average quality
A volume control would be good. To be competitive, with its lack of simple number storage, etc, it could be cheaper.

Xtremely dissapointed
Bought two phones regrettably in July - I’m 88 years of age and struggled to make work as found callers were cut off after one rung ! Asked my daughter in law to call and help me resolve the issues - she very accustomed to working out any difficulties however these phones proved quite beyond her efforts to fathom out and make workI purchased both phones in July nd only started to try use in last few weeks due to illness - am left with two lovely looking telephones that are as use to me as a couple of house bricksNearly forty pounds quite a sum out of my old age pension - dissapointed to say the very least !

Didn't last
Bought this phone for a friend who does not like technology but needed a new phone to go with new optic fibre system installed by Virgin. The phone worked fine for two weeks and then would only allow outgoing calls not incoming. The new phone was actually dated as being produced in 2009!! Looks like it's back to the drawing board and bargain phones turned out not to be. Very disappointing.
