Growth Technology clear plastic pots are ideal for epiphytic orchids such as Phalaenopsis (the most popular species) Clear pots add the benefit of light, by allowing light to get to the root system. These pots promote healthy roots by allowing filtered light into the root ball, simulating natural growing conditions. This is evident when wet orchid roots have a green appearance, which is a sign of chlorophyll presence for photosynthesis. Transparent pots also help new orchid enthusiasts to see when to water. Clear pots are available in 9cm, 12cm, 13cm, 15cm, 17cm, 19cm, or 21cm sizes.

Just about okay, wish I hadn't bothered and gone to a garden centre instead, there is no saucer with this item, as was stated when I ordered, doubt I shall use it.

Expensive and big but good
Firstly, my mistake was not doing more research before buying this. The 17cm pot is too big for a first replant for the orchid. I bought the plant at a market and it came in a tiny (probably 8cm) pot. What I should have gone for was a 12-13cm pot. Having something this big this early means that the roots get ridden amongst the bark when they should be fairly visible around the sides of the pot in order to get as much light as possible. These are seriously over-priced though and hence my 4 stars instead of 5. I've managed to find a cheaper seller on a different well-known website (sounds similar to flea bay). For the same size pots of same quality AND with matching saucers it costs less than half the price.
