If you build models, if you tinker around with things in the garage, if you are looking to measure number brill bits, you need a caliper. It doesn't have to be Sterrett machine tool quality. If it's accurate to within a thousandth of an inch or so you are good to go. You can buy them at a lot of places--Harbor Freight, Home Depot,, Amazon etc. Many of them cost about $25 although you can pay more. I've probably had half a dozen of them over the years. They eventually get abused and wear out--the most common problem is that you lose the battery door cover. This caliper is a good example--quality good enough at a good price.

I have an engine rebuilding business and have always used a manual caliper. This is my first digital caliper and I am amazed at what a great value it is. It is very will built from hardened stainless steel. It is extremely accurate and easy to use. It comes with a hard plastic storage case and includes an owner's manual, cleaning cloth, spare battery and a screw driver to open the battery storage compartment. This compares to digital calipers costing 3 to 4 times as much. It is a outstanding value.

Very solid. Not made cheaply. Comes with 3 batteries, and small screwdriver for battery compartment. Nice plastic case for storage. Control buttons have a solid feel and slides firmly and stays in place. Not worth going for a cheap plastic one or lighter steel.

The item is sturdy and easy to use.
