Grip-Lock GLRed Red Motorcycle and Scooter Handlebar Security Lock

Well made and sturdy
A nice little piece of kit. Well made and sturdy , has a reinforced steel core and upon study, has increased wall thicknesses at potential weak points. An angle grinder will cut through soon enough, so I wouldn't use it as a sole security device, but it is added security or something to use when you pop in somewhere. The device can be fitted and removed in seconds - just snaps shut. Great for an added security tool or something to carry in your pocket / bag when out and about.

Great visual deterrent
When added as a compliment of measures it certainly makes all but the most determined of thieves persist. I use it with several other devices on my scooters and have done for years so far so good. There are several other variations of this device on the market but none of them have steel bars running through like the Grio Lock. They are all just reinforced plastic so buyer beware. This is my second having foolishly sold my last one with the scooter as a package and I found it almost impossible to acquire. It’s a NZ product no longer stocked in the U.K. due to the influx of poor cheap copies but well worth shopping around for.

Cast iron is heavy [ and easy to smash
I ordered this after returning a cheaper version , these sites don't make clear the weight and material items are made from. Cast iron is heavy [ and easy to smash.] This is a lightweight resin but would take a thief some time to break , or get through it. I am elderly , with lots of bikes in the past and therefore locks. But I did not think these heavy locks appropriate for my new beautiful Honda PCX ! I put this lock in the little glove department and it takes seconds to attach on my short stops - supermarket , mac donald , restaurant . The bike is not left in the dark or overnight or for long anywhere , so convience and speed are of the essence. So this is superb , its 'softness' and design matches the bike's . Oh one last thing , the PCX cannot be started without holding in the left side brake lever , this lock can lock the brake lever in the 'out' position , thus the bike is immobilised [ the switch is under the fairing so cannot be got at ! ] so even if the thief used a screwdriver or key blank to turn on the engine it won't start.

Quick and easy deterrent
I have had a Grip Lock for years until my previous version finally packed it in. I wrote to the manufacturer and was advised that the newer versions are even more sturdy.I have a Vespa 125 which is never top of a thief or joyriders most wanted list but the Grip Lock is the perfect visual deterrent. It takes 2 seconds to put on and take off and you don't have to bend down and fiddle around the wheel and hot exhaust pipe. When I first got the scooter I had a chain which was heavy, got dirty and hard to use. If I was parking the bike for only a short time I never bothered with the chain because of the hassle. Now my scooter is locked up even if I'm popping into a newsagent, its that easy to use.
