I bought these (one for the car and one for the truck) specifically because we got our dog a crash tested harness for use with the automotive seat-belt. The seat-belt threads through a loop on the back of dog's harness at the shoulder blades. Problem was, once he laid down, the lap portion of the seat-belt would shorten up, taking up the slack, and he couldn't get back up into a sitting position again. So I pulled the lap section of the seat belt up to where it is when the dog is sitting, and attach it with this clip to the shoulder part of the seat-belt. Problem solved! Now the lap part of the belt stays put even when he lays down, so he can sit or lay as he pleases, yet the seat-belt itself remains in working order in case of a crash. The clip is good and sturdy, and tight enough so it doesn't slip. However this does make it so you don't want to remove it often if you don't have to, and it is a bit of a nuisance if a person has to sit and use that seat-belt as it must be removed and then later reattached for the dog. This is probably clear as mud, so I posted a couple of pictures to show what I mean.

These are some good quality metal clips! It’s strong and heavyweight. This concept works a lot better than a previous velcro type that I had which eventually became too loose to be effective. I am happy with this purchase!

Strong metal, holds well. Before I found these I had tried safety pins and rope. This is so much better.
