Great motor
Fantastic purchase. Hand piece doesn't heat up. I use it over an hour at a time to carve into wood. Pedal can be sturdier but works. I'm coming from a Dremel tool to this. It puts dremel to shame with its powerful motor. I'd buy it again for sure. Some pieces I carved with it attached. Oak and maple wood.

Better than expected
These tools often are junk. Not this one. Very powerful, nice handpiece with a chuck that can handle most bits. Well worth the price vs the Foredom. The foot pedal is basically an on-off, though, not very variable.

Not new
This seems to work fine. However, it is not new. There are paint splotches on the cord and motor housing . I was able to get these off with mineral spirits. Also, there’s a broken off cutting disc in the shaft that holds the discs. There are missing accessories and some of the included accessories look like they have been used. The instructions are barely readable as they are a copy of many copies and are torn in the middle. Aside from that, they were obviously written by someone who has a minimal grasp of the English language and barely make sense. They don’t include how to attach the foot pedal. In fact, the foot pedal isn’t mentioned.I am quite upset that I thought I purchased a new flex shaft and was sent a used one. Unfortunately, I needed it immediately for a project that I was working on.

Good for the budget man.
I bought this product to use in place of my air powered die grinder, which is very peaky in performance. This rotary tool has a far superior power curve, as well as a much quieter operation. It performed as expected for the first 8 hours of use. Unfortunately, I found the weak spot, the connection between the flex shaft and the motor. This particular connection is done by means of an aluminum piece which slips over the shaft on the motor and is held in place with a set screw. The problem in that, in being aluminum, it is a soft material. Where it connects to the flex shaft is a .038" wall thickness crimp connection, which allows the flex shaft to rotate in the connection once it's been put under a high enough load. Being a machinist, I'm going to make this connection out of steel to fix this problem. Aside from this small, fixable problem, it's a great product for the price range.

My first high power rotary
I have used dremel tools before. They are useful for what you need. This rotary tool is a whole different animal. Now, your tips and bits should still work in this chuck.Power. Power. So much more than any dremel. With a foot pedal to control speed.I realize this is a copy of much more expensive brand name tools. For the price, this seems perfect to me. I don't know what the difference would be in quality, but this works great to me.Where a rotary pen would bog down, this model keeps on grinding/working.I hope it lasts long term like the brand name. Too new to know.****Feb 2021****Gotta say I am truly happy I spent the money over a dremel.Per my pics, I have used it to customize/ carve wood. Also to cut, sand, grind, polish on kydex. If you can clamp it down, like a vise, it is as good as a bench grinder (almost). No troubles so far. And the seller responded to my questions about compatibility with brand name parts promptly.

Works great for porting
Works well for saw porting and many other things has more than enough power and came with extra carbon brushes for motor. Foot pedal is plastic and very light but seems ok so far

Works good, no problems with flex shaft
Other reviewers mentioned that their flex shafts overheated and failed within minutes. Personally I used this thing as part of a 3D printer to PCB CNC Mill conversion and ran jobs lasting hours with very few and short breaks. The shaft got a bit warm to the touch at the sharpest bend, but only warm and I didn't have any problems.Best guess? It's likely a qc issue with packing grease. I got lucky, you might not, but I did so it was a good buy. For me.
