This is an inexpensive pocket microscope, so I wasn’t expecting too much, but I was pleased with it for the most part. It comes with a set of slides for your budding scientist, and we were able to do a bit of exploring around the house and yard. It definitely works as intended, but you do need to be able to make the necessary adjustments to focus in on the item you are looking at, which can be a bit tricky. Smaller children will probably need help with it.

This isn't really a handheld microscope. It works best if you use it on a flat surface - tabletop. Tying to focus this and look through it while holding it and what you are trying to look at will result in frustration.I like the two kinds of lights = regular white light, and the UV light. Using the UV light requires you to press and hold down the button to keep the light on, the regular light operates with an on/off switch.The microscope come with a nylon carrying case - and a selection of pre-prepared slides. The stuff on the slides is pretty random selection - fly & bee parts for example. Fun if you have never looked at such things using a microscope.The one double-A battery seems more than adequate, the cover on the battery compartment seems a bit loose and might be something that could potentially pop off.I'm happy with my purchase.

I ordered these for my 2 granddaughters, ages 6 and 7 (one each). They were so excited and didn’t want to put them down as they ran around examining plants, their hands, flower petals, and generally everything in sight. Teaches fine motor skill dexterity as they use the zoom and focus settings. The slides that come with the microscopes are amazing, too. (I think my husband needs his own set.) Great gift for kids! Highly recommended by this Granmie.

I got this for my daughter for her birthday, she loves looking at things and exploring, thought this would be a slam dunk. We got it was not quite what we thought but still pretty cool. She used it for a week and after that it was breaking down, the lens started to pop out, the focus broke, kinda waste of money
