Works great. Nice price.
I tested this on my own chipped animals and it works great and is easy to use. Purchased due to the abundance of strays that show up at our property in the country. Great product for a nice price.

Won't scan Avid or Trovan chips
Nice lightweight little scanner. Scans most chip manufacturers: Datamars, AKC Reunite, BuddyID,FoundAnimals registry, Home Again, 24Pet, PetKey and Fi, However, this scanner will NOT scan Avid or Trovan microchips, so buyer beware! I like this scanner to keep in my car. Charges via C-port which is convenient. It's very hard, if not impossible, to find an inexpensive microchip scanner that scans all chips. If someone knows of one, please advise!I'd recommended this scanner for people who do rescue, keeping in mind the fact that Avid and Trovan chips won't be detected.

Works well
This device is light weight but very powerful and exactly as described. There are 1 star reviews because of failure to detect a chip they state might not be present - please disregard those. This device performs well for the supported microchips and is very user-friendly. The only negative is the documentation does not provide information regarding supported software - the listing states to contact the seller for that information, which seems a little strange.

Froze. No response from company.
I tried contacting the seller when this scanner froze, and after a couple days waiting for them to respond, I initiated the return process. Apparently they don't offer a replacement and there is absolutely no support service; the "troubleshooting" information they provide is for some other, unrelated product. The scanner came with no troubleshooting information in the printed pamphlet in the product box, and there is not even an Off switch or a reset method that could attempt to restart or reboot the scanner when it freezes. The screen froze within minutes of the first time I turned it on. It scanned exactly one microchip, and after returning to the main menu screen, it froze and became completely unresponsive until it finally ran out of battery. With a minute of recharging the battery, it appeared to respond to buttons again, but within moments it once more froze. What a chunk of junk!!Not worth even the low price they asked. I'll return it and look for one that actually works.

Used
Scanner worked but it was already used, the screen was a little scuffed up and it still had microchip codes in it from whoever used and returned it. I didn't order used, I ordered new. Little surprised no one thought to.. clear it, at least. I am returning it for someone else to try because I found my lost microchip reader the same day this arrived. Good luck!

Very reliable & easy to use
Used it on all my cats and it got all microchip numbers displayed correctly. Used it on a few deceased cats I found on streets too. It has simple, yet efficient menu and allows the microchip data to be transferred to your phone. Quick and handy way to obtain microchip numbers. Fits into my purse. Highly recommended.

Bought to test strays
My husband & I foster occasionally, but the past two months we’ve come across three strays so we decided to just purchase a scanner instead of running to the shelter every time.We tested it on our two dogs — both chipped within the past 4 years — and it immediately picked up both numbers! We ran it over our kitten, who we know is not yet chipped, and nothing! We also tested it on one stray to find out they do not have a chip — they’re now our foster! It’s affordable and does its job.I did think it was a little funny someone had returned it, because it had a chip already scanned three times within its history, but whatever. Still works so I’m cool with it.
