How to Read European Armor (The Metropolitan Museum of Art - How to Read)

If you could own only one book on armor it should be this one. I have filled a gap in my knowledge with this book.

While books about armor has been written for decades this new softcover book brings outstanding photographs and descriptions of the various components of armor. Each page is a delightful view of armor.

Arrived on time. Great book with clear pictures and detailed explanation. Haven't time to finish reading much; but from what I have, it is informative.

This gorgeous and informative book is a steal at $20. Seriously, the armored imagery is exquisite. Every page showcases ornate textural details and artistry.

Another excellent publication from the Metropolitan Museum. Although this is one from the series of "How to Read" introductory guides, it has much to offer both novice and specialist, being a compendium of information regarding the construction, decoration and use of primarily 16th century armour. Of particular interest is the use of the Italian Dos Aguas garniture to illustrate how 16th century armours could be adapted for various forms of field and tournament combat. The text throughout is precise and clear and is perfectly complemented by exemplary photographs, most of which appear to have been prepared exclusively for this volume.A companion volume on the edged weapons from the Met's collection would be most welcome.

Este livro é muuuuuito bom quanto a ilustrar e esmiuçar cada detalhe da funcionalidade das partes das armaduras, seus usos e trabalhos e os tipo, inclusive de montarias. Uma pena que não tem em português, mas ainda assim uma bela referência visual tambem.
