Great product very effective.
I bought this product to keep my cat off my furniture. Just place the 9 volt battery in the unit. Turn on the unit by pushing the button. Place the unit flat on the surface you want the animal to stay off of. Yes the cat or dog will receive a tingly shock that will keep them off the furniture, I can't say that will keep them off the furniture forever. As animals can figure things out. My cat realizes she can jump up on the bed now and avoid the mat. So my suggestion is if you're going to try to keep an animal off of bed You may want to buy two pads for one bed.. I placed my finger on the pad. And you have to contact two metal strips on the pad to receive a shock. The shock is enough to make you remove your finger from the pad immediately. I saw my cat jump up on the bed in front of me. She sat on the pad for 2 seconds and was gone. She did not cry she just got down and looked very puzzle . I would recommend this product. As my animals have not urinated on any of my furniture since the pads have been in place. So I think it's a good product. Now as for a chair. Like an end table chair. I used one pad. And the animal has stayed completely away from the chair. So I think one time and one shock for something like a chair is enough to keep an animal off. They do remember negative reinforcement. I think it does work. I would buy this product again it has saved my furniture.

Life Changing Seems Dramatic But Its True
This mat changed the game. I have a senior Ragdoll cat who had been using the bathroom on my couch for at LEAST 10 years off and on. I had essentially given up. Vet checks, supplements, Feliway, catnip, multiple litter boxes, another cat, change in diet, change in litter, change in the actual couch, behavioral therapy, foil on the couch, even a spiky carpet protector flipped with the pokies facing up? NOTHING. Did #2 right on the spikes. He'd always done it when he was mad at me for being away or being fed a few minutes late, but as he got older it became more random until finally my fiance had had it as well and we just kept boxes on the couch so he couldn't physically get up there. No using the family room I guess, since it was such a hassle to move and rest everything. Then we got married, moved into a new house, and I ordered this shock mat with a Hail Mary. It's been almost a year and NOT ONE accident. Not one. I'm still in shock (heh). He is an older cat, so I was worried it might hurt him, but you can set the levels of intensity and multiple people have touched it and say it isn't that bad. But he jumped up on it one time and has never done it again. It's easy to use and easy to turn off and store for quick removal. I've used it every day and night for almost a year now and still haven't had to change the batteries. And I still let him cuddle with me on the couch when I want to relax and stretch out - I just remove the mat and pull out my blanket, and he knows he can then jump up on me. But as soon as I get up, he gets down and he just KNOWS now when the mat is on, couch is off limits. Sometimes throughout the day, I've seen him put his little paws up on the couch and look around as if to check to see if the mat's on there. He kind of begrudgingly goes back to his business of roaming when he sees it is.It's also helped to give my cat a "yes" when we give him a "no" as Mr. Galaxy says. So since we said "no" to the couch, we put a "yes", or a cat bed just for him, right by the couch. We also gave him a little den with a bed and litter box so he can have a safe space if he needs it, which we keep him in a night (it's a mudroom we don't use essentially) when he can't be supervised. I thought he would hate the routine of "going to bed" but honestly he even goes in there to sleep during the day and seems to love his "cat room".Sorry for the long review, but I know what it's like to deal with a problem like this for a while and how desperate it can make you for help. Hopefully this will be useful for some!!

It works very well
This effectively keeps my cats off the counters and the table. It only takes once, and they never want to jump on the counter again. I never thought I’d be able to keep them off my counters. I’m very happy that I ordered this. It’s a lifesaver.

Oh it works!
I tried this to keep my cat away from my son's room at night because he kept scratching at his door and waking him up. It works! I'm a little concerned at how intense the shock is though, it zapped me pretty good at the lowest setting!
