It worked for intended purpose. My dog(45 lb Collie/Lab mix) had surgery and I needed something that would keep her from licking her wound. It was flexible and seemed comfortable. To my surprise she couldn't even get the thing off! The velcro on it is very strong. After about a week it was all scratched and bent (b/c my dog tried her very best to get it off when we were looking) BUT it stayed on. I would buy this again but hopefully I won't need to.

***EDIT****Update to my review, one year later and the cone is ready for the trash. He wore it for about 6 weeks last fall, and for about 2 days this fall (stupid seasonal allergies!) and it cracked in several places, leaving jagged pieces of plastic sticking out all over the place. I thought I might just buy the same thing again, since it was cheap, but I think I am going to look for something more durable. Lowered my original rating by one star, due to lack of durability.Since my dog has fall allergies that entice him to bite as much fur as possible off his toes, he must wear the dreaded cone of shame, until the allergy season passes. He had an ecollar that his regular collar slips through (got it from the vet a few years ago), but he has banged it in to walls, furniture and ankles so often that it is literally as warped and wiggly as an Elizabethan collar, for which it is named. After some research and reading reviews, I decided on this one. It came quickly, rolled up into a cone shape. I rerolled it in the opposite direction for a bit, to help loosen it up a bit, then put it on my dog. I think he finds it more comfortable and it is definitely lighter than the heavy one we got from the vet, which I think this little Corgi appreciates. He has happily continued to run into walls and furniture and so far has not caused serious damage. However, within 24 hours of using this, the translucent plastic started getting white lines in it, obviously from him crashing in to things and bending the plastic. It stinks that that happened, but I understand why it did. Since the plastic is lighter and more flexible (and therefore more comfy for him) it is bound to show creases. I just wish it had lasted a bit longer before that started happening. Not sure this one will last as long as his old one did, but the price was reasonable enough that we can replace it in a couple of years.

Good product, fits like it was supposed to and the velcro makes it easy to size and fit on the fly for the neck size range it was made for which helped fit it precisely to my animal and make him more cone-fortable... :p*side note*If your animal is skiddish or you think it may be frightened easily with this collar on, you may want to either find one that snaps or zippers. When the cone was fitted on my pet's neck, the velcro sound scared him when I took it off, think of somebody pulling velcro apart RIGHT next to your ears...if you could hear five times better than you already do. Thankfully he trusts me enough to hold him and remove it. But when it comes to recovering from surgery or stitches, sometimes that may need to be accounted for. This has nothing to do with the quality of the product, this was a very nice item, just consider your animal and the situation.

This e collar works really well! My pug wasn’t bothered by it and cheerfully went about his day with it on. The Velcro fastening was secure and he never figured out how to remove it which is great.Cleaning was easy- just wipe down with a disinfecting wipe when it starts to look kind of gross. One thing to note though- if you have a dog with a short snout (pug, bulldog, Boston terrier, etc ) they won’t be able to use a food or water bowl with this collar on. I had to make sure to take it off and on for regular water visits. We also switched to a smaller inflatable airline pillow type of collar after a few days since taking the standard e collar on and off for food/water was kind of a pain. Not the collar’s fault though... I should have thought of my dog’s smashed short face before buying lol. Most normal dogs will be just fine with this collar and it’s very affordable!

Only thing my dog disliked (besides having to wear it...smile...) is how loud the velcro is when it's opened, which really can't be helped to my knowledge.But it obviously wasn't comfortable for my dog, & why a 4 star review.It's a very durable 'cone of shame. Sorry, it's what my family called these.

Our dog had to wear this to let a cut on his ear heal. Very durable. Like how the velcro strip is nice and thick and allows for a more custom fit.

I purchased for my French bulldogShould have ordered smaller size. When I try to remove it the velcro coming apart drives him crazy! So I keep it loose so I can just slide it over his head

The collar worked very good for our dog. It was comfortable for him and we were able to customize it to fit perfectly. The only thing I wasn't pleased with is the strength of the velcro - it seemed more secure than it needed to be, but maybe that's just as it relates to my dog - a cocker spaniel. We didn't need such a strong bind.
