Good - but use the two lines together
I chose a 2 line retractable line thinking that if I had too much washing for one line I could use both - unfortunately one line is not strong enough to take even one lot of double bedding on its own, so I now use both lines together. Used this way it takes the weight. I have also found that because the actual reel swivels on the fixing bracket it can affect the tautness of the extended line. The trick is to extend the line and fix it onto the hook at your chosen site, then go back and pull the line as tight as you can before locking it into the two lugs underneath the reel. This all sounds pretty obvious, I know, but because of the reel swivelling it can be a bit hit and miss.Having said all this, I do find it very useful and much prefer it to one of those whirly things, or worse, a permanent line strung out across the garden. The fact that the line retracts means it it always clean. A bit pricey.....it was available, at a third of the price!! - in one of the local "cheapy" supermarkets a week after I bought this through Amazon, as was the clothes prop I bought to go with it. However, that was just my bad luck.Although this is a review on the product and not the supplier, I must add that the supplier was absolutely wonderful...having received a faulty line originally, they immediatley sent a replacement, so full marks to them :)

Retractable washing line
After having a really sturdy retractable line that has lasted over 10 years, I found it difficult to decide which type to go for especialy after reading some of the previous reviews. However, I would definitely recommend this unit, easy to put up although the line appears thinner have had no problems with bearing the weight of the washing or with pegs. With any of these types of lines, props are required as a matter of course or the line will sag and you do need to tighten the line using the plastic bit below where the line retracts from. It has proved really handy having the two lines as you can go straight across the garden with the one line and angle the other to give you that additional space.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT
BOUGHT IT A WEEK AGO AND SO FAR IT WORKS PERFECTLY. IF USED REASONABLY AND IN NORMAL CONDITIONS, IT SHOULD WORK REALLY WELL.ONE TIP:UNLESS YOU REALLY NEED THE TOTAL LENGHT OF THE LINE, CUT IT TO WHAT YOU REALLY NEED.IT HELPS KEEP THE REWINDING MECHANISM IN GOOD ORDER.IF YOU NEED MORE THAN 20 /25 FEET, I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU FIX THE WINDER AS HIGH AS YOU CAN SINCE IT WILL OBVIOUSLY SLACK IN THE MIDDLE.

Good but has a bit of a design flaw....
Overall very pleased but after 18 months of ownership and regular use it's finally given up the ghost and will have to be replaced. The problem isn't with the main plastic clothes line reel unit but with the small metal bracket used to attach it to the wall. This has two problems - 1. it's made of quite thin metal and 2. the screw holes are too small and are positioned the opposite side to the attachment to the clothes line reel. As a result over time the metal bracket warps away from the wall at bottom right corner forcing the lower pin to break away from the reel leaving it only attached by the top pin which itself then breaks. The bracket needs to be stronger/more reinforced and to have better positioned screw holes (and some big washers) to spread the load better. If you've got one of these and use it regularly I'd recommend occasionally checking the bracket and the pins attaching the reel to the bracket.

Washing line with 2 lines
This is a great little washing line. I live in a pretty rural area, and didn't want to spoil my view or use up garden space by installing a rotary style dryer in the back garden, so I decided on this little device, so that when not in use, the lines are just retracted back inside... to keep everything nice and tidy.It was easy to install. It has two long lines, which are retractable. All the hardware for installation was included. I installed it and started using it immediately. You can keep the line taut by wrapping it around the little plastic bits under the main body. I did this, and hung a full load, about 7KG of washing on each line. No prop required. There was a lovely breeze at the time, and it was about 28C, and washing dried in about an hour :) It was well worth it.I would recommend this washing line.

Great product
I have had this before but worn out over time with the line loosing its tension so bought another, unfortunately this one does not spring back as well as my previous one but already up and using to find this out so can’t send back but still usable and would buy this design again as really good.

Such a relief to have a line which doesn't sag!
I used to have a line similar to this for years, which eventually gave up the ghost owing to the plastic coating splitting on the line. I bought a new one, cheaper and oh what a mistake. Every time I put a big wash on it, the whole thing collapsed and my husband and I were out in the garden retrieving the clothes/bedding etc from the lawn. Eventually I refused to use it and made him indoors hang out the washing, with the result that most of it was dried indoors on the maiden. Now I have this new line and I'm back outdoors hanging up washing in the sure knowledge (I hope) that it won't collapse. These last few days have been glorious and I have washed everything in sight and had the joy of hanging it out, well I don't get out much!!! Seriously I would thoroughly recommend this product.

Very disappointed with this item
Very disappointed with this item. Purchased and installed in the spring of 2013, item is nackered and in the bin two years later. Initially we were very pleased with the item, but slowly faults began to appear. The plastic loops at the end of the line proved fragile, then the clip on the underside of the reel broke. This is essential to promote tension in the line. Putting the weight of two lines onto the remaining part of the broken clip has prompted the line to bend the wall bracket twice. This morning the item is totally shagged and I wonder is two years too much to ask ask for with items like this?
