Adorable and Nostalgic With a Positive Message
This book is so cute and nostalgic! I love the artwork, colors, and 1970s clothing. This book conveys a beautiful message about gratefulness for the simple things and savoring childhood.

Nostalgic book for all ages!
There was always something special about the beginning of summer break. So many possibilities, adventures to be had, friends to play with. As an adult, I often forget about the magic that happened during those summer months but reading this book they all come flooding back. The World Belonged to Us is author Jacqueline Woodson’s newest book and it is well worth the purchase. A poetic nod to the wonder and fun that is summertime. From pick up games in the street to building box forts with friends, I think this story can unlock some magical summer memories from every reader. I can guarantee that every adult will feel nostalgic over this story and hopefully it inspires every child to expand their imagination! The feeling of community and inclusiveness this book depicts is simply wonderful. With vibrant illustrations and a throwback feel, my children and I will be reaching for this story often. In this time where the world feels so heavy and the stress can be overwhelming, I am so glad a book like this exists!

Great book
I'm an 80s baby, though this book was set in like the 70s, there was still remnants of this beautiful time period that spilled over into my childhood. This is a must read about a time before everyone's face was stuck in a phone and when children actually went outside and learned social skills amongst one another.

The World Belonged to Us
Jacqueline Woodson has done it again!! Her books never disappoint. Being born and raised in Brooklyn I can certainly reflect and reminisce on my childhood when I read this book. It bought happy tears because it touches on what real play and imagination was like.
