The sharpener is really easy to set up and use. The suction on the bottom of the device is easy to secure and it stays in place as a knife is sharpened. I needed to sharpen standard steak knives that are over 10 years old. After sliding each knife through the sharpener about 4 times, the knives worked extremely well for cutting meat during a meal. Since the suction holds so well, it is very safe to use. And the sharpener is small, so it's easy to store in a kitchen drawer.

This is a great knife sharpener. The suction cup holds the sharpener to the countertop and is very strong. It is very easy to sharpen your knives.

If you have a knife with almost any kind of a hilt, it doesn't work! This is made mostly for kitchen knives or pocket/folding knives...which it works wonders on. However, military, tactical, hunting knives...anything with a decent enough hilt that keeps/protects your hand from sliding down the handle to the blade...the hilt BLOCKS you from sharpening the end of the blade closest to the hilt. BLAH! You end up either, A) having a half sharp knife, razor edge at the front, but dull as hell as you near the hilt...or B) having to use two different sharpeners, or just another one altogether. Again, BLAH! Great product, love the suction cup, love being able to put a bit more strength into the draw with two hands instead of just one, while the other holds the sharpener. Very nice. Great edge it puts on the blades as well. Very sharp. Not a fine sharpener...if you want a razor smooth finish, I finish it off either a ceramic sharpener or steel rod. But to get a dull as hell blade very effectively sharp, this baby does it! Just keep it away from blades with hilts!!!

I have a lot of experience with honing tools I own many asian waterstones, several DMT hones, and an expensive electric kitchen knife sharpener. I am proficient in using all of them but have always preferred my waterstones for kitchen knives because the electric sharpener would take off huge amounts of metal, shortening the life of the blade. I would like to note that I would not recommend that you use this with Japanese knives or any knife that has a 15 degree bevel. By my estimate the sharpener will set a good and even bevel somewhere in the 20-25 degree range. As the packaging says "easy light strokes," are the key, it is possible to take off large amounts of metal by applying too much pressure. A little pressure will go a long way. The sharpening material is extremely hard and easily scraps off metal, It feels like it will last a long time. I haven't tried to use it for damage removal like chips in an edge, but I imagine it could speed up that processes as well. So far, I have only used it to touch up some low quality kitchen knives. I am extremely impressed at its performance it easily set a bevel on my dull stainless steel knives in a few strokes and produced a satisfactory edge. I wouldn't say that the quality of the edge is as high as using a stone, but it does a fantastic job despite being a single girt pull through sharpener. It could also be useful for setting a quick bevel before finishing off on a high grit stone. If I had to guess i would say the edge is comparable to what you would get off of a 800-1000 grit bench stone. The product is pretty small and easily fits in the palm of your hand. It will suction to any flat surface so long as it isn't too porous, and the hold is quite strong. I got one for my mother because stones take quite a bit of practice to learn and take longer to use. This product is far better than I expected it to be! I might buy one for myself for those days when I am too lazy to use stones.

I had previously purchased one before and absolutely loved it. Worked like a charm! In fact I found myself going through my knife drawer sharpening a bunch of knives that were previously hopelessly dull and I gave up on them. Now they are back in the rotation. Unfortunately I lost it during a move and couldn't be without one after 2 weeks, so I decided to purchase a replacement from Amazon. I found that the quality was substandard compared to my first one. The construction of the body of the sharpner was plastic compared to solid good quality metal on my original sharpner. I think this will affect durability overall. Heck the all metal one felt heavy and solid like you could knock someone unconscious with it without trying too hard. The Amazon sharpner seems like if it had a good fall from height it might either crack, break or shatter the plastic. The sharpner works just fine and the suction feels not quite as strong as my first and I had to press the unit harder on the surface to establish a good suction. To be be fair the price on my first sharpner was $13 not including shipping so that might explain the difference in quality....not to me. A good replacement nonetheless but I still miss my all metal original.

Great product. Easy to use. I’ve ordered these for myself and family members. Don’t throw away your old knives. This sharpener brings your old knife blades back to use.
