A mind-purifying gem!
Namo Kyabje Düdjom Rinpoche! This is a true gem for all yogis! Even If you follow other Dharma traditions than the Nyingmapa Vajrayana you will greatly benefit from this book. And If you do practice Vajrayana (specially Dzogchen) you won't regret getting It! Although it's not for beginners since all instructions are so pithy and the view is Mengag Dzogchen (the highest of the highest), the translator skillfully points in a footnote (which I think could easily be printed in the first page!) that If you haven't received Dzogchen instructions from a qualified teacher you should not read this and "invent" your Dzogchen practice, but you can use these profound instructions to deepen your creation stage practice or even your ngöndro. The Heart Advices in this book are like drops of wisdom that purify our minds and deepens our meditation beautifully. Some Aspiration Prayers, Dohas and Suplications are complete teachings in themselves and always very profound and practical. It's a book I never stop reading for each verse refreshes the meaning of all our studies and instructions recieved, so we can more easily maintain a good practice without falling prey to our habitual patterns so often. Thanks everyone involved in the making of this treasure! May all beings find peace and joy!

The Essence
I could not think of a more accurate title to this precious work than "WISDOM NECTAR", and I would also like to thank Ron GARRY for his involvement. This book tries to convey the essence of Dzogchen and could be compared to Einstein's Formula E=MC2.Every child can "know" the formula but this intellectual knowledge does not help him a great deal. Between understanding the words and understanding the meaning lies about 47 years in my case. But until recently the words were not spelled out that clearly as here. May more beings understand the simplicity and precision of the inherent meaning!

Poetic & Profound
This book consists of a few short articles of "heart advice," many short songs/prayers, & 2 appendices. The appendices condense Dudjom Rinpoche's (DR) overview of the organization/content of (1) the 9 Buddhist vehicles (per the Tibetan Nyingma school) & (2) the writings of the Buddha. They help put the book into perspective, so those unfamiliar with this schema might read them first. In addition, Ron Garry's (RG) Introduction addresses the value of all the Buddha's teachings. Most of the book consists of songs & prayers. Per prior great practitioners, DR expresses some extremely profound realizations in his dohas (spiritual songs)--p. 49: "If you do not spoil phenomena with clinging & grasping thoughts, appearances & awareness will nakedly manifest as empty & luminous wisdom" & p. 117: "One's own awareness, fresh & uncontrived, is the primordially present ultimate Lama from whom you have not been separated for even an instant. This meeting with the original abiding nature-how amazing!" Similar to Mahamudra, he states: p. 53: "The stages of spiritual experience & realization arise either in a progressive order, without a progressive order, or all at once. This occurs according to the particular faculties of people, but there is no difference when the result is achieved." Unlike others, however, he directly addresses the Tantric ritual use of meat & alcohol & explicitly elucidates Tibetan symbol usage. This is especially helpful since his prayers, in particular, are heavily laced with Buddhist/Tibetan mythology, symbols, etc.-which RG defines in extensive endnotes. Close to my heart, DR relates Dzogchen to psychology, "p. 149: "When all experience arises as the pervasive manifestation of Dharmakaya, clinging to pure lands is misleading; the label "Buddha," the narrow path of attachment. There is no Buddha Amitabha outside me: I look within. I have discovered the Dharmakaya within myself. How exhilarating!" Thus, I dispute his self-effacing, p. 103: "I am a celebrated lecturer of others, giving advice, like a deaf person playing music." I must admit that the many Supplication Prayers did not resonate with me, & as he says, p. 271: "Reciting prayers, like a parrot repeating OM MANI PEMÉ HUNG-If I do it or not, it doesn't' really matter." Rather, p. 50: "Mindfulness is simple recollecting of the recognition of your own nature." As stated above, students differ. But, some of the Aspiration Prayers profoundly struck a note with me: p. 286: "When I sustain the naturally settled state without distraction or clinging In the uncreated state of present, empty, & clear awareness, Unfettered by the characteristics of mental frameworks, May I perfect the great dynamic energy of meditation on the abiding nature!" Pretty profound!!!

Too the heart of awareness and enlightenment
The work is well translated. The view of the enlightened condition is wonderful. I read a small portion at a time while I am in bed at night. It's good to have the core teaching of the Buddha in my heart for my night's activities. Dudjom is simply the finest I have read in my 48 years as a devoted Buddhist. I also recommend his work: The Nyingma Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, which is a definitive look at the Buddha's teaching. Dennis Crane

Profound Advice from a True Master
Wisdom Nectar offers anyone and everyone profound words of advice and direction from a great 20th century master, Dudjom Rinpoche. I wish there was an inexpensive version as I can never keep a copy. I end up giving it away and no one ever wants to return it. It is that powerful. This is definitely one of my top "go to" reads to remind me of the importance of living the Vajrayana path. Should be in every contemporary Vajrayana Practicitioners' night stand!

Keep it by your bedside
This book contains amazing verses by probably the most significant person in the Twentieth century in my opinion. It also maps the nine levels of Tibetan Buddhism culminating in the peak of "Great Perfection" or Dzogchen which is the dominant point of view in the discourse. An extremely realised being and globally acclaimed scholar's heritage for all of us. If you are currently without a personal teacher or Lama, you have found the next best thing. It just gets more profound every time I reread a page or two from the verse or doctrine section. You can't go wrong with Dudjom Rinjpoche
As you can see - a number of readers really love this book. There are many quotations directly from Dudjom Rinpoche which will please many in various ways and inform our practice. However, I found this book to read throughout like a list with little context which I myself find very frustrating. Still, I trust many more readers will find inspirtion in Rinpoche's teachings as found in this book.
