It works perfectly, but can be tricky to install due to the complexity
I purchased this due to the suspicion that the IR sensor on my roomba was bad due to it being unable to dock. When I took apart the roomba I found that the wire for the sensor was cut. It took around 25-30 minutes to disassemble(with the assistance of a YouTube video for my model). I put it all back together with the new sensor and it is now working perfectly. This was a perfect replacement for my roomba 770 model. It's still going to be cheaper than sending the unit in for an actual repair.Just one major point, you do need to practically take your whole roomba apart. If you are not comfortable with doing this, I wouldn't suggest it. Other than that, I truly recommend this part. I also wrapped electrical tape around the replacement wiring for the IR sensor to give it some abrasion protection.

Just what I needed
This is exactly what I needed after mine got broken when it got stuck under a table and wouldn't go back to dock. Works great again.

I wish there's an easy way to install it!!!
the item came just like that in the picture, no instructions or anything... I had to search on YouTube on how to install this thing. It took me a few days to install it because it require a specific size of screw driver and my luck I dont have the right size so it's either I buy the right screw driver or borrow from people at work. So when I finally got the right screw driver I had to literally disassemble the entire robot and remove almost all the parts except the circuit board inside just to unplug and plug one small sensor. Then put back everything, hope and pray that it will work. After putting everything back I found 2 tiny screws laying around so I had to disassemble it again to find where those screw belongs and put it back together...But gladly the sensor works. My roomba can finally find it's way back home and charge itself!!!

Saved me $100
So I purchased my Roomba in Dec of 2018 and it stopped finding its homebase and virtual barrier after about a year. iRobot wouldnt do anything without charging me $110 off the bat to even look at it. did some digging into the potential and found this. Worked like a charm! Install isnt super difficult if you are somewhat handy. My Roomba now works like new and avoided paying the extra money.Would highly recommend if you have had this issue.

SO DIFFICULT TO INSTALL!!
ROOMBA made this nearly impossible to install. I watched two YouTube videos from other people on how to take apart the Roomba to install it. We own 3. My husband is very handy and got frustrated many times. You literally have to take the entire product apart. It doesn't come with user instructions on how to install it either. THEN once you finally get the entire thing in many, many pieces (number them with tape), there is a special screw driver that you need to take it apart. We managed to use a regular screw driver to get it open and it miraculously works. I would say that Roomba did not create a user friendly item here considering that the iRobot gets stuck under numerous pieces of furniture and breaking a sensor would make it easy for you to have to purchase another item from them. This should be the easiest item to replace and, yet, it took both me and my husband together HOURS to repair it.

Fixed my roomba
Quick summary - recieved promptly and fixed my roomba 960. I previously had the roomba's IR sensor fail while barely in warranty (11 months). IRobot honored the warranty, though I was without the unit for a solid month. 6 months later, the same failure and iRobot charged $110 to fix it that time, again taking a solid month. Another 6 months and it failed again. I decided to try this replacement myself. Seems a little pricey for what it is, though part of that is probably from individual attention instead of mass production. And it beats the $110 to iRobot, plus I'm not without it for another month. A little tricky to install, but within my meager abilities. I found an online video that helped a *LOT* (particularly in cluing me in about cover parts that you just pry off - I'd have been scared to do that without the clue that it was the right way to remove them). In the end, my Roomba is happy again that it can find its home and also see the virtual walls.

This sensor got our Roomba 960 working again
The family's Roomba ran into the edge of our couch in such a way that it dislodged its sensor, snapping the delicate wires connected to it somewhere within the mechanism itself. I purchased this replacement sensor in the hopes that I could easily replace the broken one and get Roomba going again. It took some time to take things apart to the point where I could get to where the wire harness plugs into the board. Once I did that, it was easy to replace the piece. I put everything back together again, and our Roomba now works perfectly. It returns to the dock on its own, which it couldn't do when this part was broken.

Doesn't quite fit
Even though this indicates compatible with series 900, it doesn't quite fit. Had to use a Dremel and make it fit and even so, it is barely hanging in there, may have to take the bumper off again and glue it in place. It did however fix the issue with finding the dock. When it breaks again I'll retire this vacuum as it is 5 yrs plus in age. Time for a new vacuum anyway.
