My wife smelled gas near our stovetop. I couldn’t smell it but I ordered a gas detector. It was difficult to calibrate and never successfully detected gas even when I turned the burner on our outside grill on full!I bought this device and it worked like a charm. and immediately found the source of the leak.Highly recommended!

After multiple failures of various detectors installed in my camper, I opted for this portable device with a much needed sensitivity control. Although this is a battery operated portable device, I installed a 5-volt USB power supply where my previous detectors were installed and added a USB power cord to the unit. I adhered the unit to my camper wall with a velcro strip. Now I have the safety monitoring needed for the camper, and if I need to use the unit elsewhere, I simply detach it and install (3) AAA batteries and it's ready to go. The previous sensors were far too sensitive, resulting in annoying false alarms and they had high failure rates. I couldn't even put on after-shave lotion without setting them off -- ridiculous and very annoying! The sensitivity control on this Y201 is terrific, allowing you to stop the false alarms. ANY detector should be tested weekly, but instead of a test button, why not use the real thing -- I test the unit once a week with a BIC lighter. Also, the camper manufacturer installs the detectors at the floor level, where they can pick up dirt and dust, setting off the unit and possibly even clogging the sensor or eventually disabling it. LP gas is heavier than air and will stay by the floor, but there is no real reason to put the sensor that low to the floor. With the Y201, you can point the sensor down, where it will not have the tendency to pick up dirt or dust, and it will be at a more desirable level from the floor, about 5 or 6 inches. Also, because LP gas is detected by odor, the only time you really need a detector is when you are sleeping! Please note that this unit has an audible feedback feature that indicates proper functioning -- it makes a ticking sound. If you are a light sleeper, the ticking sound may bother you, so keep that in mind. I got used to the sound and it does not bother me at all, and I am a light sleeper. It's like a clock with a second hand, although it is slightly faster than that. Anytime the detector is not needed, it can simply be switched off, and this will also prolong the life of the unit. If you are forgetful and cannot remember to make sure the unit is on when needed, then this may not be for you. If you have small children (or cats) around that could possibly mess with the controls, then this may not be for you. As for me, I am very pleased with the unit and happy that such a device was available. I have been using it for a couple of months now, and I will revise this review accordingly if problems develop. The company now offers a lifetime warranty for the unit, which is amazing since all LP sensors have a limited lifetime, similar to an incandescent light bulb.

Got this for home inspection checking for gas leaks around gas furnaces & fireplaces. Tested it and seems pretty accurate. Small and compact. Quality is good. Easy to use.

It works good and very easy to use. Just turn it on and go just like a flash light. If it detects anything it will scream.

gas detector worked quickly to locate leak in RV, leak was eliminated in minutes!

I recently purchased a Mr. Heater 30,000 BTU Propane heater. After setting it up and lighting it for the first time, I thought I could smell a very slight odor of propane. I asked my wife if she could smell it and she could not smell propane. So, I decided to purchase the Yeezou Y201 gas detector. I read the instruction booklet that comes with the device and set it up according to the directions. I tested it first with a butane lighter and it worked great. Next, I fired-up my Mr. Heater propane heater. Then I went outside in the fresh air to turn on the Y201 gas detector. At this point the heater had been running for about 5 minutes. When I went back in the house and moved closer to the heater, the bottom light of the gas detector lit up. As I moved the gas detector close to the stove a second red light lit up and the detector started to beep indicating that it detected propane gas. I moved the detector to just above the heater and a third red light lit up. At this point I knew there was a leak. I then turned off the heater, shut off the propane tank, aired out the house, waited 30 minutes and then repeated the entire test with the exact same results. So, my opinion is if you ever decide to buy any type of indoor propane heater or stove, add a little extra in your budget to purchase one of these Y201 gas detectors. The peace of mind you will get knowing whether or not your device is leaking is worth it.

This “sniffer” is a great piece of test equipment at a very reasonable price. I like both the visual and audible detection information. I also like the sensitivity calibration and the “I’m working” tick. The gooseneck sensor is very useful for hard to reach places. I highly recommend the Y201 to anyone looking to add a “sniffer” to their tool box.

This is a great monitor that allows you to verify that gas appliances are turned completely off and do not have any slight leak. The monitor was easey to set up (pretty much worked right out of the package); when we tested it by turning on an appliance at a very low level the Gas Sniffer detected the gas and sounded the alarm as advertised. In addition it is very easy to use. Overall a great value.

Had toch ergens een klein gaslek in de meterkast. Had ooit een gasbuis afgekoppeld en een gasdop geplaatst die niet helemaal goed afsloot. Dit apparaat herkende het lek, erg blij mee!
