Q: Are the 8 b(m) us wider than the regular 8?

I don't believe so because I bought an 8 b (m) and i couldn't even get it on. Gave it to a friend who wore 7 and it fit her perfectly.

Q: would a 9 be too big if i normally wear a 8 1/2

So update: If you are wearing them for fashion purposes the 9 would be perfect as I am typically an 8.5 in heels. BUT if these are for competing, go with an 8. I returned mine for an 8 after being told the 9 showed too much shoe and that my feet will shrink during prep. Hope this helps!
