great pasta but a thin spaghetti
This is a really good spelt pasta from vitaspelt. Spelt is a whole wheat flour, but not the grain one is used to. Traditional whole wheat is milled from hard red wheat. Spelt is similar but lower in insoluble fiber which helps make it more tender. This pasta is two ingredients untreated spelt and egg. It makes for a springy rich pasta. The 4 lbs of pasta is shipped in one large bag, and the strands are very long and attached in places. The color is a pale yellow. It cooks up aldente in a few minutes and is quite delicious. The thickness is that of a thin spaghetti. The pasta in their pictures seems to be a thicker pasta than what I received. Additionally, I do not like that it is shipped in 1 large bag. I would like to see at least 4 individually sealed boxes or bags. Though the thickness and the packaging were a concern of mine, the price is good relative to other spelt pastas, and the taste and texture were near excellent. Because of these positive attributes I am giving this spelt (thin) spaghetti 5 stars and a recommendation based on quality, price, and taste.

Mixed emotions.
Not quite sure if I really like these. Taste is great, just wish these were real spaghetti and not angel hair. Cooking time 2-4 minutes gives it away and they were al dente after 3 minutes.

Tastes good, but comes in an open plastic bag inside the box, some was loose and crushed.
This came in an OPEN bag inside the box. In other words, they put a giant bag in, filled it with pasta, and then just taped the lid of the box shut without fastening the plastic bag closed. . Some of the pasta had made its way out of the bag and was loose in the box. About a quarter of it is crushed. It is very long, you will probably need to break it in half or more unless you have a giant pot.The spelt has a nice sort of nuttier and sweeter taste than wheat pasta. It is NOT Celiac safe. This one is thinner than normal spaghetti, something thicker than angel hair but thinner than spaghetti.
