Lovely writing and an enchanting story.
I needed a book to read that would take me away from daily 21st life and this book succeeded! Interesting and nuanced characters. I am now hoping there is a sequel!

Engrossing
Having been brought up with Arthurian legend, Ivanhoe, Robin Hood et al, I've read many variations of them all. This work introduces a deeper historical aspect that easily captures the imagination. And that is the secret of Arthur of Britain or Camelot. However you perceive the myth, it is the simple fascination with what could be and the embodiment of the principles of that legend. Don the garb of the time, whether hose, leather or armour. Seize your weapon. Staff, cudgel, mace, spear, sword or lance. Raise that pot of foaming ale or mug of wine, toss the chook bones over your shoulder and welcome this, another, engrossing exploration of Arthurian legend.

Brilliant historical novel series
A superb series but sadly this is NOT the first book in the series but the fifth. To read the series in chronological order (recommended) start with "War of the Celts", then "The Round Table" followed by "Merlyn" and then this one, "Exaclibur". After that is "The Boy King" and the final one is "The Sorcerer". If you like historical novels, then this series should be high on your list.
