What width cord does this produce?

It depends to an extent on the yarn you use. You can use anything up to DK although there is variation within different 4-ply yarns, different sport weight and different DKs. But as a rough guide I would say from just over 0.5cm to just over 1cm. Have fun with your project!

Does anyone know if this would handle cotton aran yarn better than the cheaper versions of machine? I'm having difficulty with cotton yarn splitting

Yes, this is far superior to the cheap ones. We couldn't believe the difference. Have used with all sorts of yarns including shaggy synthetic.

Can the handle be removed from this machine like the cheaper versions?

no it feels firmly fixed it is an excellent machine I have made miles of cord

Are replacement needles available?

i have had my i-cord knitter for a couple of years and it has had a lot of use and I have never needed a new needle. so do not know if you can get one
