The VEO DISCOVER 38 messenger bag goes hand in hand with the compact VEO tripod or monopod, offering your support two seamless fitting carrying options: either in the full length dedicated and discreet internal compartment with zippered side access, or strapped to the front of the bag using the integrated securing slot and straps. The VEO DISCOVER 38 offers a quick-action zippered top opening to a large main compartment in which you will find plenty of storage for a DSLR with lens attached, 1-2 lenses, a flash, and essential accessories. When you also need to carry a larger longer lens, then the full-length internal tripod compartment underneath can easily accommodate it, while utilizing the external connection for the VEO tripod or monopod. We have of course also taken into consideration all other essential needs and incorporated in the design a dedicated laptop compartment that fits up to an 11” laptop or tablet, a large front zippered pocket for all you need on hand when on-the-go, a flexible slip-in side pocket perfect for a water bottle, and a dedicated discreet rear pocket to secure valuables. With the tripod or monopod stored inside, the VEO DISCOVER 38 does not look like a camera bag, and when you don’t need to use it as such you can easily convert it into a great spacious and comfortable everyday messenger bag by removing the insert and leaving your camera gear at home. Additional features make sure you get maximum performance incorporating our second-to-none quality, materials, and bag construction, sturdy water resistant & anti-scratch material on the bottom, and our total coverage rain cover.

Nice bag, wish they'd spent some time on the inside after doing the outside so great!
Well, I decided for once to give a little back and do a more full review. With pics too! From the outside, my first impression was that the bag is pretty compact and smooth, but also quite boxy. Opening it up didn't change that, for My mirrorless, it's about 1/3 too deep (see 10th pic). It's almost 2x as deep as I need. The outside has a great setup for holding a tripod, and the side opening zips to access camera work well, but only one side, the other side is useless unless you switch completely over of course. It also has no security considerations. It would be nice for there to be some way to disable the unused (and the used!) zippers to make theft a little more difficult. It has outside pouches on both sides where the side opens up, but no organization sew-ins etc. This is common all over this pack. The inside has 0 places to slide in filters, pens, anything at all. It's just one big compartment with velcro-in dividers. You can also only access these dividers from the unzipped back, but as I show in one pic, you Could redo the dividers probably to access the lenses from the side as well.It wouldn't hold my 13.25x9.25" laptop in the slot, but you can set it outside of it's pouch just fine, I'd be fine with this personally. The pack doesn't really have any other room to hold in the big compartment. The small compartment at the top is pretty small, making this pretty much a camera-priority bag, with a little dual duty possible. It seemed well enough stitched and put together. Not high-end, but quite good for the price. All in all, it's a nice pack, but not great. It would probably do well enough, but isn't a standout for me.

Solid Camera Case
I like the sturdy build of this camera messenger bag. It holds my 80D, 3 lenses, and a teleconver up top. The top, is fairly shallow due to the compartment below. I am using this to hold a long lens. The shoulder pad is remarkably comfortable even on long walks. There is an attached rain shield in one of the zippered compartments. Compartments hold filters, cleaning supplies, and notes. Very much worth the $50!

Vanguard VEO Discover 38 Messenger Bag: my new "go-to" camera bag
These comments are for the VEO Discover 38 Messenger Bag. I own several camera bags. My previous 'go-to' bag (most often used) is a large Mindshift backpack. Functionally the Mindshift is great, but on more than one occasion I'd find that the size was a drawback. I did some searching for a mid-sized bag & ended up finding the Vanguard Discover 38 Messenger. After the first use I knew I had a new 'go-to' bag. My favorite feature is the bottom section which fits my Manfrotto Be-Free travel tripod as if they designed the bag for it. So nice to have my tripod not attached to the outside of a bag! Even with the tripod in the bag I can still fit my mirrorless camera with a mid-sized zoom attached, a second lens as well as a point & shoot camera in the bag. I also like the rain cover which is very easy to pull out & use plus it's tethered to the bag so it's hard to lose. Over-all the VEO Discover 38 Messenger seems like it was designed specifically for my needs. I hope Vanguard does not discontinue this bag.

Not a great sling pack, better as backpack
Great product, promises more than it delivers. The main compartment is completely accessible only from the back, with limited access from the sides. No front access at all, but I can live with it. The top compartment works best for anything you would need to quickly access. Probably the most comfortable backpack I've ever had, it sits on the back in the perfect spot. Well worth the money for that.My only complaint would be that the shoulder straps zip together, thus creating the "sling" for the sling carry. Unfortunately, the zipper has separated numerous times so I don't use it in that configuration anymore.Excellent backpack, not so great sling pack.

VANGUARD MAKES A GREAT CASE!
I own a Vanguard Binocular, and always marveled at the quality and ingenuity of the case. I purchased the Discovery 15 specifically for a vintage FUJI HS10 camera. My goal was to keep the case as tight as possible, to protect the camera, but also to store it. But enough room inside to remove the camera without tugging. This case is a perfect fit. Be sure to measure your camera and decide if you wish to carry an extra lens prior to purchasing. My camera has an integrated 30x lens, so one unit. The case holds camera, batteries, charger, USB cord, cleaning cloth. No room to spare. Kudos VANGUARD!

Great As a Grab For All
Wasn’t the best as a camera bag, but I took the dividers out and use it as a catch for all. Right now it’s carrying around my camera rig broken down. I love this bag. I do keep the top “basket” inserted for smaller catch for all items. I love the products from this company. Very great quality items from bags to tripods.

This is a great bag for the money, comfy, tons of room and handy features.
Finally took this bag out for a walk... love it. The tripod option is too small for my Sirui, but I wanted to use the external tripod strap anyway. I used the tripod pocket for my long 300mm tele and it has room to spare! The bright interior makes finding stuff a snap. Lots of pockets and flexible velcro arrangements. Was comfortable on my shoulder, even with a full load up. Great bag, punches way above it's price class.

Kinderrucksack
