Does exactly what it says on the tin
Bought this to bring 10 Gbps Ethernet functionality to my home network. I can now copy files between my PC and my Synology NAS at faster transfer speeds than a locally attached SATA-III SSD. Very pleased with the performance. Setup was easy and the provided web-based UI is responsive and functional enough, you don't need to install Adobe Air and use the desktop apps if you don't want to. One thing I would advise is to download the latest firmware from Netgear's web site as it contains important security and performance improvements. You'll be asked to set a new password for the switch after updating the firmware which is a good thing because the factory default password is not secure at all.Build construction is good, solid metal outer case and the switch feels hefty and durable. It is also silent during normal usage. I've connected my 1 Gb devices and my two 10 Gb devices simultaneously and each device operates at its maximum rated bandwidth with no contention or slowdowns. All in all, for a home or small business, it's hard to find a better value for money proposition in the market for 10 Gb Ethernet switches. If two 10 Gb ports is all you need, then this unit is highly recommended.

I love these for extending POE around my house. As they themselves are POE powered it was nice to slide them behind furnture or into small gaps where they can't be seen and require no power plugs. It allowed me to run CCTV to an area of my house where there was no power, and as a bonus allowed me to directly connect my xbox to faster network than wifi.I have a second one due to an unrealised project and they are handy to keep around. They have full VLAN support and my only criticism of them would be they have no SNMP functionality, so I can't monitor them as fully as I would like.

Good wee switch for the price.
Nice wee switch, like the fact I don’t have to power it from the mains as it derives power from the upstream PoE device, in my case another switch. Only negative issues and I only say this as I’m a networking professional is the web interface, the vlan configuration could have been more straight forward, also if the switch supported config via ssh that would have been a big plus, but these are small budget line switches, expensive compared to other 5 port switches but this is due to the PoE functionality this switch has which is why I bought it. I’m pleased with it even with the clunky vlan web config.

Does what I wanted and looks nice as well.
Most modem/routers come with 4 ethernet ports which can be a bit limiting if you have a NAS as well as a couple of computers, TVs, printers, etc. There also not always that efficient. Just because they are gigabit ports doesn't mean they run at that speed all the time. Switches work by selecting the best route between two devices and not impacting on other devices that are also connected. The efficiency of this process is very important.Netgear is a well-known manufacturer in this field. Not the cheapest and not always the best either but I have confidence that they know what they are doing. I ordered the 'Smart Managed (Plus) + Cable MGMNT' model as this fitted my needs the best. I had it installed and working within 10 minutes of unpacking. It was a direct replacement for an older unmanaged 4-port switch. The switch has a built-in web browser for settings (see photos), which is quite straight forward to use. I really like the way you can rename each of the ports, making it easy to know what is connected to which port. You can easily setup priorities enabling important devices such as a NAS to get priority over other devices when usage is high. The design of the unit is quite nice. From the front you see just a single blue LED power light. Even this can be turned off if not required. At the rear of the unit is a long line of RJ45 ports hidden under a flap. There are slots for keeping each cable in place and the flap can be close fully. This keep things nice and tidy. There are also two USB power sockets at the back along with a reset button and power socket. There is a power saving mode which will shut down power to ports when not in use. I found power consumption to be very low at 0.5W idle and 3W when in heavy use. The unit and the power supply never get more than like warm. Use of the USB sockets may change this but I haven't tried it.Overall, it does everything I wanted and I'm very pleased with it.

Does exactly what I needed
So I had 2 requirements when buying these switches:1st - For it to be managed as I have separate vlans for my LAN, smart devices, DMZ etc. This switch is so easy to manage and work with I had to buy a 2nd so I could replace it with my overpriced Meraki switch.2nd - My wife hated the Meraki switch with all the cables on display at the front of it in the lounge. These little switches look fantastic and the power and network cables sit nicely in the back (panel closes to hide them and there are notches to lock the cables in so it's not a tangled mess) and the status light is at the front so I know if it's working correctly or if one of the ports is having errors (the light turns orange if this is the case).I've used many different devices over the years both consumer and enterprise and these are by far the best looking and best priced for what you get!

Can't fault this switch
Acting as my home office switch with a variety of devices connected across the IT and Media space. Happy with its performance and certainly is an improvement to WiFi on my devices that I can use the internet on. Unit is well built out of metal, compact and has a standard IEC connector on the back for power (I appreciate not having a power brick for this switch as it helps with extension cable management). Overall I would recommend this switch.

Wonderful MANAGED switch
I bough it in offer for the price of a unmanaged one. Although no firmware updates since this long time I have it (at least two years?) but it don't need it... VLAN, PaG...Take care of the Green port settings. Most of the times it doesn't work....
