Excellent for adults - Using right out of the box with my Verizon SIM card.
I am using this in place of a dumb flip phone I had on Verizon. I didnt want to switch carriers but I wanted to have better texting and images. I purchased an LTE phone compatible with Verizon’s network as a bit of an experiment. What would happen if i just bought the phone and put in my Verizon SIM card - Well much like any other LTE device it started working right away no problem - No internet, No social media, no email. Excellent! Now - with out a Gabb plan you cannot associate the new phone with a “parent” account (this needs to be done through the Gabb Wireless app on another phone / tablet). You really can’t even make a Gabb account online but I called Gabb support and they set me up with an account (which is useless without a Gabb phone plan - but was experimenting). So all in all - A great Dumb Smart phone for those who want to use it right out of the box - My understanding is it uses a variation of Samsung Knox managed Operating System which was originally designed for companies who wanted to manage/control the level of access / usage on employees phones. Working good for me as a Smart Dumb phone. Now I really wanted to get the Navigation app loaded but the only way to enable this is through a Gabb parent account (see above - can’t be done without a Gabb phone plan). Possibly you could pay for a months of service, set the phone up how you want it and then cancel and move on to what ever provider you wanted to use. Not sure if this would work though worth trying some day. That or try buying a used phone that was not factory reset.

Gabb is horrible
Our experience with Gabb has been absolutely horrible. No part of the customer experience has been good. The signup process was a nightmare. I will never get back the hours of pain I experienced trying to get our four kids signed up with phones that worked. Do you need to transfer from another provider? Prepare for a slog.As a father, I was anxious for the monitoring to keep my kids safe. But the monitoring constantly stops working, for no apparent reason, leaving me to learn of issues with my kids' and their friends' communication only when it had been months and I realized the app wasn't connecting with any service. Then trying to reconnect the app to the monitoring service is now impossible on android due to and endless loop experience where I cannot verify my identity. I have no ability to login to the app now.Logging in online sometimes works. Sometimes I can see my children's accounts. But many times I cannot. Twice, I had children's phone numbers listed as un-activated and, again, was a headache to work with support to get things working again. My son old enough to drive is unable to navigate anywhere because their maps app simply does not work. MANY times I have had to give my son driving instructions over the phone because his phone cannot navigate him to where he wants to go. The thought of him fiddling with a phone that barely works trying to get where he is going as a new driver terrifies me. Gabb is actually making him unsafe.Additionally, my older kid found a way to open a web browser on many of the vetted apps that Gabb makes available. Completely defeats the purpose.I work in software and was an engineer for years. I know my way around technology. This isn't user error. Their products are just completely unreliable. If you have a young child or two who don't have friends or drive, do not mind working with their support to get things working on occasion, maybe Gabb will work for you. For me, I regret using Gabb.

I changed my opinion
When we first bought this phone I wasn’t very satisfied but as we got more familiar with it I can say I’m very pleased with it. It would be a great phone for any age if you don’t want your teen or younger child on the internet. It works great. We will be buying one again for our granddaughter in a couple years. It has everything a child needs. We aren’t a fan of giving our kids phones that can allow them to be on the internet. There’s just way too many dangerous people and inappropriate content no child needs to have access to. Really none of us adults need one either. But that’s just my opinion. Young parents let their toddlers and grade school children play with their phones and click on all kinds of things they shouldn’t see. That’s what wrong with the world. There’s too much access to harm children in the internet. Anyway, this phone holds true. It works well and our daughter can not get access to the internet yet she can text, take pictures, and call family & friends. And if she needs something she has a phone to call for family or help. I recommend this phone.

The media could not be loaded. I wish that it had more apps- but great phone for my 11 year old daughter she got it for her birthday and absolutely loves it 👍🏽
