The pad helps when dealing with hard floors which can cause back pain in some people such as myself. It adds a cushion as I’m cooking or getting something out of the refrigerator. Pretty to look at as well as functional.

I'm disappointed, it's a beautiful mat...
It's only been 2 months and material is already deteriorating! We have a no shoe policy in our house hence no shoes in our kitchen and it's already starting to fall apart. I'm disappointed because the picture on the mat is beautiful.
