Yes, you can. I baked mine in a deep dish pan coated with olive oil so it baked crunchy.

No, I have the cone shaped maker which I love! All my arancini come out perfect. So easy to use!

You don't have to use risotto rice - ordinary rice moistened with, say, some ketchup or a sauce, will make it stick together enough. Try it with no rice but with mashed potato, or grated courgette (and squeezed to remove excess water), or riced cauliflower. There are recipes at the manufacturer's website - click the Union Jack icon in the top righthand corner for the pages in English. The website's menu offers "Free recipes" and there are more recipes available on the website if you buy although at the moment these seem to be in Italian - the site says they're working to translate them into English.
