Lightweight and will protect my boots from the snow. Had a heavier pair for Cross Country Skiing. Gaiters are a necessity for protection from snow and sleet.

I got these Coolrunner leg gaiters to use while hiking this winter. I hate hiking in cool weather and having my pants legs get wet from brushing against tall grass and brush. These gaiters are easy to put on and take off, and they have multiple means of staying in place when on. There is a strap that goes under the bottom of the shoe or boot (they are not really meant for flat soled shoes like in the attached picture), a hook that holds to the shoelace, and a drawstring that holds the gaiter tight around the wearer's leg. The fabric is polyester, which should repel water well, and the seller claims it is breathable, although I have some doubts about that. The sewing is good, without any loose threads or bad stitching that could cause problems. I haven't had an opportunity to wear these while hiking, but based on my limited testing I have no doubt they will work well.

I work out in the forest. This is great for keeping you lower legs/pants and your ankles drier. These aren't snake gaiters. I likely won't use these in snow environment as they are lightweight. I like the stretchiness of them to fit my fat legs. They fold compact because they are not stiff and are able to be portable. Great for my work.
