Killer quality
This product works wonders in any high drainage medium. Comes light weight and compact, you just add water. Very great quality.

Not recommended!
What disappointed me the most, was that it was more like "chopped" cocoa powder with a serious chemical flavor. Definitely not recommended!

Love these blocks
I mix these in with the heavier potting soil I get cheap, or these bigger chip size can use to top the pots. They multiply in volume was more than you think. Put them in a 5 gallon bucket and cover with water. Come back and fluff it all up. One brick goes a long way. I have several on hand when I am repotting something or seed starting.

Can't wait to use it
This coconut coir became available to me through the Amazon Vine program so I decided to give it a try.Can you believe with all the gardening I do and with all the houseplants I have, I have never used this stuff before?I have over 75 houseplants throughout my home in the winter and while I try to only repot in spring & summer, sometimes I have to do it in fall or winter.I also grow veggies & flowers outside.I did try to sew seeds inside last winter and plant them outside in spring but it didn't go so well.It had nothing to do with the products I used or the seeds themselves and everything to do with my lack of attention during the growing process. (I know what I did wrong, or should I say, what I didn't do and I'll rectify it this winter).I usually buy either potting soil or soil recommended for seedings. I have always mixed my own potting soil for my houseplants so that's a no brainer but I have never mixed my own for seedlings. When I saw this product, I decided to get it and give it a try.So many plants have their own growing needs. Some like to be kept moist, some don't like wet feet. Some like acidic soil, some like neutral. Some like sand mixed in and some like more peat based.Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep up with the needs of every plant when you have so many plants? Let's just say taking care of my plants on a daily basis is time consuming. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I don't live an adventure filled glamorous life and therefore need to entertain myself with things that make me happy. Plants make me happy.I am going to do more research to come up with the right recipe so my seedlings thrive this year.Having never used coco coir in brick form before, I had to read reviews from similar products to find out what makes a good products and what contributes to the bad.In my inexperienced opinion, this is not a bad product.I do not observe any smell and I do not observe mold or mildew.Although I have not used this product yet, I have examined it to ensure nothing displeasing was included in the brick & I'm happy to say, it looks great.I have a few new plants that will require this to be added to the soil and I'll be doing research within the next month or so in order to concoct a good recipe for sewing seeds.I have saved seeds from my peppers so I'll be sewing pepper seeds when the time comes. I will also add other veggies like beans, tomatoes, squash, carrots, cucumbers, radishes, herbs and a few others. Anything I can do in order to save money I'll give it a try.So for now, I am happy with this product and if my opinion changes in the future, I will update accordingly.

The chips small
Coco chips are okay but small and a lot fine fibers

I love this stuff!
I have used this type of substrate before in the past and this works just as well as what I have previously used. I used some last year for a larger project as mulch around my 4x4 raised garden beds. I like that it is compressed, I was to get several large blocks for the coverage I needed, but it was extremely easy for me to mulch an area on my own without the back breaking work of traditional mulch and carrying heavy bags of mulch from the car to my back yard. Because this is more expensive than traditional mulch, I layered the ground with cardboard from my Amazon shipments, added a layer of leaves, and topped it with this mulch once it was moistened and expanded. I used a large Rubbermaid bin to get the moisture consistency I wanted to expand the product and poured out any excess water. It has held up extremely well for a full season. This is more expensive than traditional mulch, but if you have a smaller project and you want something that is lighter and easier to apply, the coco fiber works magnificent. This product and size is best used on smaller projects. It is a good substrate for orchids and works well as a mulch for potted plants. Mulching potted plants with coconut fibers help retain moisture during the hot summer months and protects tender roots from frost during the winter. I have found that the coconut fiber mulch seems to hold up better than other mulch I have used in the past.

Mostly fiber hardly chips
I ordered these because they looked like exactly what I was looking for. They arrived quickly and I was excited to get started with it. I noticed when I opened it that it looked more like the coco fiber bricks I have gotten before but I thought maybe the chunks would be in the center and the fiber was around the outside to make them more even and uniform. When I finished soaking it and breaking it apart I was disappointed to find it was mostly fiber with hardly any chips and the ones in it were small. Maybe I am wrong but I was expecting chips similar to the orchid bark. I ordered the 2 pack maybe that brick will be better.
