SwiftUI for Masterminds 4th Edition: How to take advantage of Swift and SwiftUI to create insanely great apps for iPhones, iPads, and Macs

Seems to be an impressive book
I bought this for someone for Christmas (they preferred the Kindle version, so I returned the paperback version I got), but when I skimmed through it prior to gifting it, I noticed that it was packed with information. The text was well written and understandable.( I did notice a few typos, which should never be the case in a published book, but I've noticed that software books like this tend to have lots of them given that there aren't really any editions past the "1st edition"–the "2nd edition" is just the book that's produced two years later for the next iteration of the software. So the goal is basically just to get these books out as soon as possible, and I doubt there are a lot of editors trained in computer programming and vice versa.)The book is packed with information, though it may not be all the information you want. There are "only" 21 chapters, and several are used for topics that aren't consequential for most new/intermediate students of SwiftUI: concurrency, storage, MapKit, mutliplatform apps, and notifications come to mind. That said, there appears to be a ton of info here for just about everyone. The one caveat I have is that there doesn't appear to be much–if any–information on the new additions to SwiftUI in 5.9 and iOS 17, specifically Macros and the new Observation system, both of which appear to be game changers. That's what I'd be looking for myself in a book produced after summer 2023.

Nice update. Lots of good info!
This is a nice update to the previous version that I have. I carefully transferred all my sticky tabs, written comments, and index additions to the new version. Keep em Coming!

The missing manual for Swiftui
Very extensive coverage of SwiftUI. Now updated for iOS17. Excellent introduction to SwiftUI and swift development on apple platforms in general for those coming from other programming environments. Just one limitation: the index is not elaborate enough; this has been the case for the last three editions. Apart from that, wholeheartedly recommended.

Great update to the 3rd edition
The more I use this book, the more I like it. Apple's Swift and SwiftUI languages are immense in their scope. Although not all encompassing, this book does a great job at presenting and describing much of Swift/SwiftUI. This book will not teach you how to code, but rather present, describe, and give examples of the Swift/SwiftUI languages. My only complaint is somewhat minor- some of the material presented in the book is not listed in the index.

this is a must have for quick references
