The media could not be loaded. I feel like most reviews complaining about this machine could have been avoided if people READ THE MANUAL.This compactor is great value for the money! Please read the manual, as it specifies which oil to use depending on your ambient temperature and how much oil to put. I had to use SAE 30, as I am in Arizona with ambiet air over 40°F and I am guessing most people should actually use that.Mine arrived covered in oil, so I made sure to add oil to the vibrator assembly and cleaned up the spillage.I had no problem starting it up with the engine oil filled to about 3/4 of the gauge stick and gas filled to the bottom of the gas filter. No leakage occured just a bit of smoking right at the beginning that lasted less than a minute, which is normal on engine startup.Overall, easy to use, sturdy, relatively compact machine that does the job if used correctly.P.S. it comes without a paver pad so I am using a small rug that my wife wanted to throw away :-)

Works great, starts up every time. I did come with scratched paint on the handle but nothing I would care about being I'm using it on gravel. Definitely would recommend for someone trying to find a cheap tool such as this

Very happy with this plate compactor , just what I needed . It does very good for small and medium size jobs. I have done 3 jobs already with this machine compacting gravel and pavers and so far so good.

Do not buy! Used for 1 hour on the first day, worked great. 2nd day, started it up and the belt shredded and came off after 10 mins of use. Now I'm being told the item cannot be returned??!! $400+ is an expensive lesson... do not buy this unit! I'd give ZERO stars if that was an option.

This is amazing. It doesn’t take much oil and you may overfill it the first time so beware. Fired right up on the first pull. I think the choke and fuel adjusting pictures are incorrect but that’s simple. My package arrived in one day but the package was damaged and the wheels inside were demolished. I had to go through the Vevor website and get a replacement which came from China so about two week wait. But it was no hassle. This is a great purchase for the price and warranty. It compacts excellent.

Set this up and used it pretty heavily this weekend. Assembly was fine; the manual was not super helpful, but I figured it out just fine. There’s a great YouTube video too. Ran good on D1 gravel and did what it was supposed to do. I have pretty low expectations considering the price point, but I was pleasantly surprised.Only negative is there are several spots with unpainted steel. A couple months in the shed and they are already visibly corroded and rusty. Will be keeping it in my garage from now on.Frankly, it’s already paid for itself, considering the cost of a rental. So that’s win-win!

Unit is nice but shipping sucks. Evidently the machine was shipped upside down and the oil poured out of the exciter and filled the air filter full of oil. I was trying to start the machine and it wouldn't. Checked fuel to carburetor and it was there and then checked spark and it was good. Checked air and found the air filter soaked in oil. Removed and it started right up. Looked for new air filter but can't find one for this unit. Wound up getting a new air box for Honda gx160 off Amazon for $14.99 that fit perfect. Air box came with 2 filters,spark plug,wrench and gasket. Shipping also broke one of the trolley wheels so I'm going to attempt to contact Vevor to try and get one. That's the problem with the China crap is you can't usually get parts for them.

It is a very good buy, great performance so far compacting lime base, pea rock. Upcoming asphalt project will be the true test. Easy to use.
