Are we still using the word "sissies"?
We're not. This book provided an opportunity to have an awkward conversation with my five year old about homophobia and unhealthy forms of masculinity. Also, why would brushing your teeth be associated with insufficiently masculine behavior? That's a weird stereotype. In general, I'm about done with the casual sexism in Keller's books. They're otherwise fun and quirky. But why so much reinforcement of dumb gender stereotypes? Why? It's just not necessary.

Dentist-approved book for children AND parents!
With so many young patients at our dental office, we decided to increase our dental library of children's books. After ordering ten or more stories, this was by far our absolute favorite for children AND parents. We're always looking for a way to teach parents to teach their kids about the importance of good oral health. This is perfect! There is so much information in this book about the structure of teeth, the jobs of each tooth, and why caring for teeth is essential. Parents and children learn that primary teeth (baby teeth) play a crucial role in speech development and holding a place for permanent teeth. While kids and parents are learning accurate information, they'll find that the humor in the book is fantastic as well. This is a dentist-approved book! We just love it and have shared the title with many others.

Silly but useful book
My four year old needed some inspiration to brush his teeth and this book really got through to him. It's a playful way to give young children real facts about teeth and the importance of dental health.

Love love love. Good info to teach kids on their teeth
My 5yr loves the book! Now she knows about her teeth. Although she still has all her baby teeth but now she knows her front teeth are called incisors. I have to read it twice every time and oh boy it's quite a long book but funny. I would recommend this book.

too much going on
It certainly isn't for kids to read by themselves. An adult would have to explain everything. A lot of info kids don't care about.

Fun and educational book!
A very funny and educational book! Laurie Keller definitely knows how to write for kids and make learning so much fun! My 6 year old son loves this book. It is a bit more wordy than others so be prepared to read for a bit!

Open wide - Wow
As a illustration degree student I am on the constant look out for insiring childrens books. At the time I purchased this I was looking into educational or dentistry books for children. All I can say is this book had everything a child needs, it may not be a traditional story book but wow, facts, fun story all about a school of 32 teeth pupils, a sense of humor and good quality bright illustrations. I would recommend it to parents, and there should certainly be a copy in classrooms and dental practises. I know I would have liked this as a child equally much as I do now.

I used this with primary school children.
I bought this because I wanted a fun take on a serious message. The set out is jammed with little bits of information. It's good for giving out and letting children explore for themselves.

it seemed a bit crazy and my 7 year old said it didn't make sense but she enjoyed the pictures
Cute but a bit strange I thought it was going to be more about going to the dentist and more anatomy then it had in it, it seemed a bit crazy and my 7 year old said it didn't make sense but she enjoyed the pictures

A Bit woolly
Although it has some good images and may probably appeal to some, I found this a book which could confuse younger childen. Jokes/meanings could be lost and overall not a clear text to follow.
