Pretty good!
What a good kit - it did have everything required and in fact to make the four animals (we didn't make "snake in a tree" we had 50% of the clay leftover, so great value for money! The mechanisms all worked initially, but one when full wound wouldn't work. Don't know if this was user error but the others were fine. That's the only reason it lost a star. So be careful with winding and do let the animals set overnight ideally, as you can be more boisterous with them!

Great but you have to make them first
Good quality toy, my mistake in not reading the description correctly bought as wind up toys for our 16 month old who loves chasing them across the floor, didn’t realise that you need to make them first so was inherited by the 5 year old who is very handy craft wise and loved the set, the baby can now chase the finished models across the room.

An afternoon’s fun but 3 colours unusable
Galt generally make excellent children’s toys but I’m not sure about this one. It’s an air clay kit to make 4 wind up animals with a snake in a tree. You get all the air clay needed to make everything pictured on the box plus to have some left over to make other things, which is a huge plus. Each colour of the air clay is individually wrapped and has the consistency of soft play dough so you can mold it the way you want to and let it dry and harden overnight. The information leaflet warns you it is messy but it’s not too bad. The problem was that 3 colours were already hard in their individual wrappings and a 4th (white, argh!) was almost there so was unasable. The instructions are fairly clear and are broken down into very easy steps for each animal. My almost 4 year old and I did the best we could under the circumstances and we had a fun afternoon creating some very sad looking creatures. Because we were limited in terms of colours, we were only able to make the tree and snake plus the elephant and tiger. They look a bit off as the white was unusable after using it for 5 minutes. Well, that’s my excuse, anyway. I have attached a photo for your amusement.Daughter loved the windups and had loads of fun playing with them without any clay on them. We had a lovely afternoon together and did lots of chatting while molding. She’s young for this but is fairly used to playing with play dough and practically everything in the kit starts with making a ball, which she can do.I like it but there is clearly an issue with some colours being exposed to air in transit making them unusable. There is a zip lock bag included to seal the air clay for later use but I have little faith in this as only 2 colours were in great condition and the rest I doubt would last long at all. It’s great for an afternoon of fun with your child but I’m not sure she’s ever going to race them as suggested.

What is the fastest jungle animal?

My 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son played with this set (the video is attached to this review and also on YouTube in better quality, user: TheMightyRoast ). They had fun with it.The set comes with a race track, 10 different-coloured packs of soft air-drying modelling clay, 4 wind-up mechanisms and some instructions, with pictures, to make an elephant, crocodile, tiger, lion and a snake coiled around a tree. They made some of these and also a creation of their own (a poop emoji).Unfortunately two packs of the air-drying clay must have had air come into their sealed bags by the time we opened the box as they were already dry. But apart from that this was great, and you also have to commend the ethos of Galt Toys - in this digital age when children are on mobiles, tablets and computers from their toddler years Galt make more traditional, non-digital toys such as this which my kids loved.

Fun without screens or electricity
Galt toys are usually both well made and appealing to children. I have bought many for the family over the years. Though I wasn't so sure about this item at first. The modelling clay is actually lightweight. About as light as air basically. The colours are bright and actually does resemble the photos on the box. There are lots of clear instructions to follow. As well as words you get step by step colour diagrams of how to proceed with the modelling. It is reasonably easy to do as long as you don't get too bothered in having a realistic copy of the picture. My seven year old granddaughter did very well but none of us can replicate the professional example! It might be best to make something out of your imagination and just put that onto the wind up mechanism. The little inner body parts with walking feet I found rather flimsy and I was scared of overwinding and breaking them so I left that to the kids.Inside the box is a printed green four lane track for the racing to be held. Most of the fun comes with the model making I think. But it is all harmless fun with no screens or electricity involved.Could be good as a toy to pack to go away on a visit or holiday as something a bit different to do.

Good fun
This was quite good fun. Making the wind ups was fairly straightforward and quite enjoyable. The racing was quite good as well. The components and materials are fairly well made. It seems quite reasonable value for money. I know that it is probably not the type of toy that is going to be used all of the time but for an occasional quick go it is impressive.
