Great size for traveling and easy to throw into any bag. Magnets on the bottom of the pieces are pretty strong and don't get knocked off easily. No rough sides on the molded plastic pieces. My kids love it and I love that my kids are playing chess!

Really impressed with the build quality for the price. Plastic pieces don't show the usual ridges/artifacts common with cheaper portable chess sets. The plastic on the board and pieces feels more sturdy than I was expecting. Didn't have any flaws or marks, and the size of the board is perfect for me.One of the pieces had very weak magnetism and wasn't sticking to the board, but a trick I learned is to wave a stronger magnet over it repeatedly which "charges" the magnet and makes it stronger. This solved the problem completely. Great product.

Bought to take on a car trip with family. No space for regular chess board. Family loved it, Only complaint I have is the little cases to hold the pieces. It was difficult to get the pieces back in, reallly impossible. they were useless and cheap.

Perfect for travel and taking to the park for chess on potentially uneven surfaces. It's sturdy and firm and can take some rough handling without looking too beat up. I like that the containers that store the pieces can come out and you can easily dump everything into them for quick clean up or take them all out for quick set up without having to turn the board over several times or have pieces loose. The containers fit into a little notch on the back side of the board and it won't close unless those are in place properly, but that's much easier than having to put all the pieces into their own dedicated notches. Lightweight enough for a smaller kid to manage and great for him to bring to meet up with friends at the park.

I purchased this set as an extra for my son, who is a huge chess fanatic. His main set is really nice set and was fairly expensive, so I was always worried about him losing the pieces whenever he would leave the house with it. This solves that problem. Since this set was reasonably priced, I am much more comfortable with him taking it out. Although it was inexpensive, it's still a good quality set. The pieces are made of a sturdy plastic, and I love how they are magnetic, which lessens the chance of them getting lost. I also love how they can be stored inside the chess board when not in use. That is a very convenient feature. The 2 extra queens are also helpful for when he promotes his pawns. Most sets don't offer that. Very happy with this purchase.

My family loves chess and wanted something we could take on a plane or to a hotel room and this was perfect! It’s nice quality especially for the price. The magnets are strong so they don’t just fall off. It’s easy for my young son to put together and put away easily. Great travel set! Would also make an awesome gift!

The media could not be loaded. This is a nice compact set of the classic game & the quality is worth the price.The storage space inside includes two containers to store the chess pieces in. They have little notches on the bottom to hold them securely in place, but unfortunately, the plastic they are made of is rather thin & they feel pretty easy to crack/break. Careful when shutting them in for storage.The chess pieces themselves are nicely detailed, made of plastic, have a thin velvet cover on the bottom to prevent scratching the board and have a strong enough magnet to hold them in place in case you need to move the board mid-play.The board is sturdy, but doesn't include a mechanism to lock it in place once opened. However, the magnets on the pieces were strong enough to hold their spot if you were to pick it up abruptly and forget this. (See video)The extra queens are appreciated.

The quality is impressive for a small set as the manets are decently stong for the pieces to stay in place. The felt on the bottoms make for smooth moving too. Live the containers that the pieces fir in as it is easy to clean up after a game.
