Best framing handbook I've found
I bought this book several years ago, while building a backyard tool shed. Now that I'm getting ready to build a sauna, I got it off the shelf and gave it another look. Glad I did. The book is a bit pricey now, for sure, but if you're planning any sort of challenging carpentry this is the one book you need to get. I've bought several others, and they're long on glossy photos and short on details. This is just the opposite - yes, many diagrams, but also many invaluable tips and warnings that you won't find anywhere else. Really worth it, in my opinion.

Very good resource
This is a great book. I am becoming a respective DIYer, but I'm learning as I go. I'm good at trimwork, but I've never done any framing. As I plan on a full renovation of a bathroom, I was looking for a solid reference to teach me the basics of framing. This is a really good book: it's well written, and provides a good mix of theory with practical knowledge. The level of knowledge assumed is just right. I'm only a few chapters into it, but I have already learned a great deal. When I understand why, I can more easily understand how.

Not quite ready to build my new home yet...
Purchased this book to hone my skills in projects around the home. Id say its a pretty good book with lots of specs, and ratings and usefull info. I dont feel a book can teach you everything alone, but surly felt this book gives me good visual and verbal information. Surly you would have to keep the book handy if you were to say tackle a project out of your confort zone alone, but the info in there may steer you clear of any issues. I myself was pretty lost and confused in the roof section ,but it seems thats not too much of a starter level project. Especially when getting into hip roofs and harder designs. Get is used for a few bucks less, and you wont be disappointed..

Great to keep in the truck.
I keep this in my work truck for those off days. It's a great reference for this like stringers I don't do everyday and might want to feel like I have a second set of eyes on my work. This obviously isn't the end all be all for learning carpentry but as a field reference it's paid for itself in saved time and material over and again.

I decided on this book as it was priced well and had received good reviews. I found the chapters in the book ...
First of all let me say that I am not a construction pro. I do some side projects from time to time in my own home. I would say that I have moderate skills in construction. This past year I decided to build a fishing cabin on my mountain hideaway..a kind of man-cave. However I did not have a big budget and I had no access to helpers. Therefore I needed a quick reference guide on basic carpentry skills needed to build a basic structure. After doing some research on Amazon, I decided on this book as it was priced well and had received good reviews.I found the chapters in the book to be very relevant to my project as I embarked on building my first ever structure from the ground up, which was a 12 x 16 gable-roof fishing cabin. I especially found this book to be of great use when it came to building the roof. The roof I settled on was a 12:8 pitched gable roof and I was able to do all the cuts and installation by myself, with a little reference to this book.

Great Reference Guide
Bought this guide as a DIYer that had some upcoming shed-framing projects, and wanted to ensure they were done right rather than ad hoc. I'd built some sheds and things before, but wanted to work on doing things more professionally. This book definitely paid for itself a couple times in avoiding rookie mistakes and helping get the job done smarter rather than harder.DeWalt is a solid company, and I'm a proud owner of their tools, but this book has been the go-to thing this summer just looking up quick questions, or researching this or that recommended method for something on a job, including help squaring walls, and other things that would have been big headaches come rafter time if we hadn't followed some of the book's recommendations.I would strongly recommend this to any DIYer that's looking at framing work. Even if you're experienced, having the extra reference is great.

Has a lot of good information but nothing that you can't find in other books which are better (complete carpentry or the efficient carpenter for example)

Excellent Framing Guide at a Great Price
I don't have much experience with framing, but I'm eager to learn. I was a form work carpenter for about 6 years and never really loved it and have finally decided to pursue framing and finishing carpentry. I did my level 1 carpentry apprentice training already and we learned quite a bit about framing, but that was several years ago. This book has been an excellent refresher. The drawings are high quality and very clearly detailed, and everything is explained well, too. I'm really glad I bought this book and already feel more confident about looking for a framing job. You could fly through this book in a few days and learn a ton, or it's just a great reference when you need a reminder about some aspect of your framing job. Really good stuff.

Ottimo
Manuale molto ben congegnato e chiaro. Unico neo il dover convertire le misure nel sistema metrico decimale, ma lo si sapeva...

Highly recommended ...
Pretty good i am pleasantly surprise since they weren't no previews anywhere on the net or picture of content, I worked on framing in a prefab houses factory got a good knowledge base and have 6 or seven books on framing this one is a little bit more advance with plenty of computer drawings and diagrams and formulas how to get the length and angles on wall structures framing trusses , a good part on making trusses with angle and formulas its not to technical and not to amature, compared to my other book this one is more modern and up to date with latest technologies of framing.. Will probably get more books from that series ..
