Battleships Yamato and Musashi (Anatomy of The Ship)
C**S
This book is the final word on these two ships.
I have Skulski's earlier Anatomy of the Ship volume on the Yamato, the two Kagero books on Yamato and Musashi, and even a Gakken modelbuilder's book on Yamato. Skulski's latest puts all of those to shame. This book contains everything from the earlier Yamato AotS volume and more, numerous color CAD renderings of the ships, and colorized renditions of every extant photograph of the two ships. Includes interiors, exteriors, cross-sections, and even comprehensive shell plating details. Given the sparse details on the subject matter available, the sheer effort that went into researching and creating this work is nothing less than staggering. As a bonus, the book contains diagrams and photos of the Yamato and Musashi wrecks, including photos from Paul Allen's 2015 Musashi expedition.Modelbuilders, naval history buffs, and naval architecture aficionados need not look further if you have an interest in these ships - this book is the definitive, comprehensive, authoritative, unsurpassable reference on them.

Best source yet for the physical details of the Yamato class battleships
A must-have for any modeler seeking to produce the most accurate example possible of either Yamato or Musashi. Particularly in view of the recent new release of the Gallery-Glow2B 1/200 Yamato model kit to surpass the ancient Nichimo version, you'll appreciate the additional details offered by this book. I'm certainly no expert on the Yamato, having read knowledgeable analyses from other experts who point out that not all graphic depictions in the book are 100% accurate, but it's the best single source yet. Beautifully illustrated, high-quality printing. None better on this subject....

Probably the most comprehensive book on the IJN Yamato and Musashi.
The computer renderings are pretty amazing covering both ships. There are quite a few photos that I have never seen and plenty of text. The only down side for me as a modeler is there are not diagrams of the rigging . Still a great book

An incredible update to what was already the best source on the Yamato
If you have seen Anatomy of the Ship books, you kind of know what to to expect. The book is primarily plans and drawings. If you want lots of historical narrative or photographs, this is not the book for you (Get Warship Warship Pictorial No. 25 - IJN Yamato Class Battleships). However, this book is quite a bit different from the rest of the series and the original version of the book. As for differences with the original, to begin with, it is much larger. There are color renderings and there is some color in the diagrams. There is no jacket and no jacket plan as the norm in AOTS book. The updated version includes coverage of the Musashi as well. The original version had very little in the way of internal details, especially when compared with other AOTS books. The update has a lot more of them. There are a lot more other details as well. The most comparable book is Capital Ships of the Imperial Japanese Navy 1868-1945: The Yamato Class and Subsequent Planning: Chapters 1-3. There is material in this other book that I do not see in the AOTS book. However, The Yamato Class goes deep into a few topics and leaves most of the ship without cover.AOTS is the the best, first book on the Yamato from an engineering perspective.

A powerful tour de force coverage on these great ships, Much fuller than the earlier anatomy of the ship issue, the authors have performed a labor to great detail of these giants, the very last of their kind. Excellent 3D renderings of the various areas of the ships make this book a modeler's dream come true. The book even includes drawings of the wrecks, and they are enlightening to say the least. I heartily recommend this volume for any and all interested in these great ships.

A must book for IJN navy enthusiasts.
This book is just too good to be true. It's an update to an earlier work by the same author in the Anatomy series which was phenomenal when published. This edition is night and day better. Dozens of wonderful clear photos of these little photographed sisters are included. The drawings are well done as are the 3-D illustrations. This book is a must for modelers, writers, and researchers. I've studied and modeled these impressive battleships most of my life and I highly recommend this stunning work.

A stunning book
This book covered all the questions I had about the layout and weaponry of yamato and musashi. The illustrations are very well done and clearl6 visible. They only gripe I have is some illustrations disappear into the book binding. But other than that it’s a good book five starts

The reference book on the Yamato class
This is a fantastic update on the previous version using new information obtained by the author. We will never know if it's correct or not, but having researched certain aspects I believe it's probably correct. If building any model of the Yamato this is a vital reference, particularly for larger scales. Well worth the money. It's a shame it doesn't cover the Shinano, but that is not really surprising as very little is known so fully understand why the author left it out.
