Another step forward for DAP’s
Like a lot of people I suspect, I had fallen into the routine of using my smartphone for listening to music, as it’s super easy to have all your music in one place and it goes everywhere with you.Not that I am an audiophile, but I always want to get the best I can from my devices, and that meant using a separate DAC/AMP with my phone and wired headphones. Generally this works, but what it does introduce is a heap of usability issues of having to carry cables, adapters, two devices and finally headphones. This for me was not sustainable.Enter the HiBy Digital M300. My main aim was two-fold, I wanted a player that would simplify my set up, and secondly would sound good. My previous DAP (Activo CT-10) fixed the first ask, but the second, sound quality was very lacklustre. So after a lot of watching reviews, I wanted a device that was small, connected to the major streaming platforms (I personally use Apple Music), and would allow me to store my music offline. It came down between this and the HiBy R4, but in the end, the specs are very similar and the M300 is smaller.I have been using the M300 for a few days, and I am not disappointed on two fronts. Firstly, for a small device, it is perfectly usable for someone with big hands like me! The Android 13 software whilst not lightning quick, is fast and responsive, and my music library of over 300GB of downloaded music scrolls perfectly well. The other aspect was the sound quality, and I am pleased to say this is a marked step up from my last DAP device. Using no EQ, MSEB or PEQ at all, I have found the M300 to sound clean, crisp and fairly neutral. I have used a variety of headphones and IEM’s including a pair of planar magnetic beasts, and whilst I have to push to volume from the M300 to +70% they drive them fine and sound good. All this in a small, compact and flexible device that can sit in a pocket and I avoid cable hell!I bought this through Amazon warehouse, and got a bargain at £149. In my opinion, this is excellent value for money at full price, offering a lot of functionality and great sound quality for everyday listening.I use Apple Music along with a microSD card in the M300 to store my downloaded high resolution lossless files. Works perfectly.

Great little DAP ... especially for TIDAL users
Picked up the HiBy M300 as a compact, affordable DAP and it’s turned out to be a really solid choice. It’s quick, responsive, and runs Android smoothly, so using streaming apps like TIDAL feels no different to using a phone, just without draining your phone battery.**** Please note: For TIDAL Users: I picked up 2 before the M300 that said you could run Tidal as an app - you couldn't. Using the M300 you CAN download the TIDAL app from Google Store, install it and run it. You CAN also download trackes/playlists without any issue ****Sound quality is clean and punchy, with good clarity and separation. It doesn’t try to sound overly warm or coloured, which I like, and it pairs very well with IEMs and easy-to-drive headphones. Plenty of detail without being sharp or fatiguing. The size is a big plus. It’s genuinely pocketable, light, and comfortable to use one-handed. Battery life has been good for everyday listening, and overall it feels well put together for the price. If you want a simple, modern DAP for streaming and local files that sounds good and just works, the M300 is an easy recommendation. For TIDAL users, at this price, to me its a no-brainer purchase

Battery does not last as long as advertised, only 12-15 hours instead of the 29 hours
This is by far the best MP3 player I've bought on Amazon, it works very similar to Sony in functionality. Since it is android based I have downloaded other music apps as the Hibi app that comes with it is not very good functionally but has some great sound options settings which i haven't figured out yet. However the only grudge I have is that it is advertised as having a 29 hours battery life for playing music but it only seems to give me about 12-15 hours of play and the product support is only a manufacturer email and they are not helpful and give generic replies and excuses. So I'm quite disappointed. Would have given 5 stars if it was not for that. Also mine came with no screen protector so I had to buy it separately. It has a nice clear bright screen

Stopped working properly
This was a great music player for my daughter for about a year. She could use Spotify with downloaded track lists for travelling. Then suddenly that stopped working. She can only open Spotify when connected to WiFi which pretty much defeats the purpose of a portable music player!

So so
Fiddly screen apps appear very small so difficult to use especially when on the move good luck selecting playlist when walkingvolume low with wired phones battery life not as advertised approx 30-40% down with normal use on bt headphones sounds ok but not as good as a Sony a45 best thing is the cheap case available

Perfect for listening to music and audiobooks
I love this little music player. I wanted something I could use to listen to music and audiobooks without using my phone. This does the trick nicely. I can download my audiobooks from audible and my music from Amazon music over WiFi without any cables or needing to connect to a pc and listen to them whilst on the go. Anything you usually get the app on the App Store for, you can use. It’s incredibly versatile. The battery is great, the music quality is good through earbuds, the build is solid, the portable size is just right, and it screams class. I wish there were more accessories for it, but the player itself is amazing. Not the cheapest, but not expensive, and it is well worth it. Very happy with my HIBY. It’s like a smaller and better version of the old classic IPod and exactly what I wanted and more. The only thing it lacks is dab radio when not in WiFi range, but does have fm and means my other half is less likely to pinch it to listen to the match whilst out and about.

Dissapointing Experience with the HiBy M300
I had a disappointing experience with the HiBy M300. Initially, everything worked perfectly for several weeks, but I then encountered issues with the USB port. It wouldn’t recognise the ‘wired headphones’ output, which I was using to play music through my Schitt Modi 3 external DAC.An important factor I overlooked was that HiBy has no UK technical support. I had to email them to explain the issues. I tried various troubleshooting steps but couldn’t fix the problem. HiBy informed me that I’d have to send the device back to them in China at my expense. Reluctantly, I paid for tracked postage and sent it back to their address in China. After about six weeks of negotiations and multiple email exchanges, they finally agreed to send me a replacement device. I set it up and used it for about two weeks before the USB port started failing again. I sent them video evidence of the problem, but they replied with more “try this/try that” suggestions without offering any real solution.I researched online and found reports of quality control issues with an earlier batch of these devices, and other consumers have experienced similar problems. The M300 also had issues such as charge-loop problems, incomplete shutdowns, and various other bugs and glitches. The main problem was the USB port, which limited the device to playing music only through Bluetooth headphones or the 3.5mm headphone jack (not recommended).Communications with HiBy, the manufacturer, have been deeply frustrating. I finally contacted Amazon customer service and explained my situation, providing details of my experience. They immediately authorised a return of the item and provided me with free Royal Mail shipping via a QR code for a full refund.I have now purchased the Fiio M21, which has worked flawlessly and is a highly recommended alternative.

Tiny DAP, great for travel.
Got this to use when I travel, so I'm not running down my phone battery. Wanted a small form factor and running android.Came well packed and setting up was simple. Just copied my music to an SD card on my phone, popped it in the M300 and the Hiby music app picked it all up. Build quality is good, aluminium sides and glass back and front, plastic end pieces. Control buttons are ok and the rocker FN switch is solid and doesn't rattle on mine as some reviews have reported.Learning about EQ settings and how to get the best out of it, but straight out of the box it played all my music with better quality than my phone (fairphone 5).Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity is good, speed of android 13 interface is good, battery life remains to be seen.Good performance, and with a 512gb SD card for memory (purchased separately) I'm well pleased.

Be aware of the Risk...
Died Yesterday. got into a on/off loop when plugged in. Read in forums about issues like these. Had to learn it the hard way. Anyone planning to buy this keep in mind that it is a gamble. My money went to waste.

What a great player.
Had the HiBy digital M300 music player for a couple of days and am extremely pleased with it. I added a high end 512 GB Sandisk Micro SD card and then placed my music collection on it. The collection, which added up to 240 GB took a while to load but the player did this flawlessly. The HiBy music player app recognized the music easily and I was ready to go. I used my Ear Fun Pro Noise Cancelling headphones (these to me are better sounding for music than the much more costly ones from Bose or Sony-I recommend these highly if one wants great music on a budget) to sync with the player. The Bluetooth connection was immediate and the sound was fabulous. The music is clear, smooth, warm giving me a well-balanced listening presence. I tried all different music since I am an eclectic music lover such as pop, jazz, classical, soul, country, oldies and other types and each music genre was given a similar smooth and balanced sound with a wonderful stage presence. At times when the music warranted it, I could hear different instruments to the left and right, as well as a vibrant presence in center stage for a vocalist. The base was just perfect, not too obvious but nevertheless accenting the lows and mids throughout. I am not an Audiophile, but someone who loves listening to music, even through streaming on Spotify and this player does it all well. I can download any Google app with no problem, which the player easily supports. The device is very very compact and yet large enough to fit into the comfort of ones hand. It is made out of solid materials and they even placed a screen protector on the front. Some people may say that their phone may do the same thing, and they might be right. Yet when I listen to music, while reading, or walking, or working in the yard, I prefer not be be disturbed since I want to be in my zone and out of the hustle and bustle of phone calls. The sound compared to my Samsung phone is also far better. Those younger people in the midst of a successful career, should probably keep their music on their phone, but for a person who at some time during their day likes being in a personal zone--these would be perfect for them. There are cheaper ones out there but these will get the job of delivering music done in a full and clear way with an overall package that is thoughtfully designed. I recommend them highly.
