I was totally puzzled about which level of putty I should buy.......extra soft, soft, medium, or stiff or whatever the levels were called. After reading many many reviews, I chose soft. It is exactly right. It provides a workout for my hands without over stressing them. For those who are not the athletic type or terribly strong, this is a perfect level. It does NOT transfer color to my hands and stays together very well (I read some of the "putty" wouldn't stay together but broke off in little pieces. My order was 2 containers of soft green putty.

I like that this has more putty for my exercises I need to do for my hands.Great product.

I've been using the blue medium putty for about 6 months now and have loved it. It's not sticky and it holds up well. Excellent for both hand strengthening and as a fidget. The downside is that the firmness diminishes as it mixes with the oils from your skin, so after 6 months it has a much thinner consistency and it's helpful as a therapy putty. I decided to buy the Firm (purple) this time around, thinking it will last longer and my hands are ready for something stronger. I was disappointed to find that the firm wasn't much firmer than the medium. Honestly, it doesn't feel different at all. I guess I should have tried the extra-firm, but there does seem to be inconsistency with the product. For another example, with the two Mediums I had, one was clearly firmer than the other. It's a shame because it's a great putty, but if your goal is therapy/strengthening, this may be too inconsistent for you.Update: I just want to share that both of my Firm Purple putties smell *awful*. My Blue Medium ones have no smell.

Not only do I use this for wrist and hand strengthening. My granddaughter plays with it for hours. Last time I bought the blue medium, which was a little stiffer, but this extra soft is perfect for us … I would highly suggest you buy this, I am thinking about buying the regular soft so I will have three different ones. Only one of the two containers is in my hand in picture, you get plenty for both hands

you might not think its working but it does. i have carpal tunnel in both wrists but i have a thumb problem in my right hand. use this to stretching you fingers; squeeze the putty. you will probably need to use for a month and then you will see the diference.

This is the easiest strength. Good for an old lady!
