Timberline Handheld Chainsaw Sharpener Tool for Chainsaw

This device does take a couple of minutes to set up. But once set up it sharpens the saw chain back to almost the factory degree of sharpness. It is very accurate and well made I have cut wood for nearly 50 years, and this is the best sharpener I have ever used! I highly recommend this device!

Bought it to start sharpening my own chains instead of paying 10 each at the hardware store. Looked simple and easy to use. It took awhile to set properly and adjust so I can seamlessly move to the next. A couple hiccups along the way but finally got through one side. Went to switch angles and could not get set to sharpen them. No matter what I did, i either couldn't get the link to stay in place, or i was maxing out the adjustment. Fought it for awhile and gave up.The "chrome" coating on the bit immediately started coming off during use.To be fair, may not be for the chains I have. Not exactly top brand name chains I have. The one I tested it on was a craftsman M78. I could give it one last chance with one of my Oregon Y62 or whatever Home Depot brand is Y62.

Working at a shop table (need patience with this device) I was able to work it as described in the manual yet the files proved useless. No consistent fine edge put on any of the chain teeth.

Very poor instructions. Just a few pictures. Fiddly to setup. Does sharpen some maybe.

Product was as discribed. I am very happy with this product.

Like you heard, I used one grinding head to sharpen one saw chain it wares out easy . I’m going to have to buy more grinding heads . You’re better off buying a chain saw file . I learned the hard way . So there you have it , pay and suffer or get the file . You been warned.

I ordered this for my husband to sharpen his chainsaw and he said it worked fine.
