DIAMONDS AND PEARLS (super deluxe 7xCD + 1Blu ray) Review: A brilliant album, now with EXTRA Brilliance 🙌 👌 - I'm thrilled to bits with this compilation, so I'm maybe the wrong person to ask about favourite tracks ( I change my mind often on that). Suffice to say that it's as good as it promised to be, a classic set of moods & original arrangements to treasure. Review: A diamond of a box set. - Long been one of my favourite Prince albums because I was old enough to remember when it was out the first time around. I still have my original CD of this album and when I found out they’d given it the box set treatment I had to own it. The Sign O’ The Times CD deluxe box set was one of my best purchases to date and this now sits proudly on top of it. Very impressed that the cardboard packaging that came with this had the same motif as the album cover on it. It’s a great box set and I love that they made the CD box set a 12” size. The artwork inside the box is fab and there are some great pictures of His Royal Badness from the time. All in all this is a very comprehensive box set. Perhaps not regarded in quite high esteem as some of his other eras. I think he was still at his peak in this era. I’ve yet to listen and watch everything but great that they’ve included 3 hours of video from the era including the Special Olympics concert and sound check (talk about comprehensive) as well as the Diamonds & Pearls video collection (which I bought as a separate DVD years back). Delighted to see they included Violet the Organ Grinder, which is one of the best songs from this era. A variation on Gett Off, which itself is still one of Prince’s best jams. They have spoiled us here with 47 previously unreleased recordings and the damn near 10 minute mix of Gett Off. Having listened to the remastered Diamonds & Pearls album I think they’ve done a good job. I didn’t think the original needed remastering but the remaster of the album thankfully hasn’t been a victim of the loudness wars. The singles from Diamonds including the title track and aforementioned Gett Off were amongst his best work in my view. Cream still holds up as do Money Don’t Matter 2 Night, Thunder and Strollin.’ An ideal gift for a Prince fan.

ライブの音像と映像だけでも買う価値ありです。ただ、DiamondとPearlが加入する前のライブだったので、1点減点しました。ブートで出回っているロンドン公演もあれば、完璧だったと思います。

Diamonds and Pearls is my all time favorite Prince album. Not necessarily because it's the best but because the memories that this album has for me are the best times if my life. I was 17 when this album came out and listened to the cassette in my car, every day on my way to school and when I got home, I sat in front of my television waiting for one of the incredible videos to come on MTV or to hear a snippet about Prince and this album on Inside Edition or one of those shows. The world was full of promise, my life was full of promise and Prince was at Paisley Park making incredible music. 💜 I'm so excited to listen to this (again and again!!) And I just want the Estate to know, that when they put these sets out that they are doing an Incredible thing! Helping us older people to revisit this magic ⭐⭐⭐⭐ And hopefully the younger generation will discover this Awesome music! Now, to the contents of this box set; Thank you for this Gorgeous book!!! A million stars for this amazing book!!!! The CDs look to be awesome..I've only listened to one so far (vault 1) and was blown away..cant wait to hear the rest!!! I wish the DVD were not blu ray because I dont have a blu ray player, but, no matter, I have the dvd and at some point will get a blu ray player (maybe just for this!) Anyway, this is so amazing and I cant wait to spend my entire weekend listening to this crazy amazing music and revisiting the best time of my life...5 million ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐s....... 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Diamonds & Pearls was a pivotal LP for Prince and introduced the New Power Generation band. This Deluxe collection digs deep into the creation of this project and the pulse of this Prince period. The Blu-ray material is worth the boxset by itself- never before seen Glam Slam Minneapolis show and the rehearsals from his Special Olympics performance. Throw the promo videos, and you've got your money's worth. Audio wise, everything sounds great. The outtakes are always interesting with a Prince project. A must have for fans. Well done by the Prince Estate!

A great addition to any Prince fan's collection. It collects alot, if not most of the music created at the time of recording. The music is dated, but is a joy to listen to. Not his best albumby far, but a very prolific period in his career. The vault tracks are the core in this collection. The remastering does make a difference, although the original sounds fine compared to this one. The book included is great, if a little padded with the expected writings of what a genius he was, even though this album is on of the least groundbreaking he released. It is new jack swing influenced and very little of Prince's innovation comes through. Overall, not a bad album at all, just a bit pedestrian and dated.
