Dream Big (Olivia)

I bought this and another Olivia book for my daughter's 3rd birthday. I was disappointed because yes, I am one of those dopey people who did not read the description carefully enough. But happily, she was not. I am sure she has no idea what most of the quotes mean, but she likes seeing the pictures from different stories (like a small dose of nostalgia) and the book is a good size for her to hold herself. It is a little bigger than your standard board book (so she feels big and important!) but small enough that she can easily hold it and flip through it.My daughter is hard on her books, but I think we'll try to take good care of this one as I believe she will appreciate it all the more as she gets older. I suggest that this is a reasonable alternative to "Oh the Places You'll Go!"

PROS: Beautiful illustrations and wonderful quotes. Includes some illustrations from prior Olivia books that were memorable.CONS: However, if your child is under 4, don't expect him/her to stay interested as there is no story line for your child to follow. The pictures may be sufficient to sustain his/her interest for part of the book, but it is rather lengthy so a storyline would have been much preferred. It is essentially a series of quotes that are somewhat related to the themes of pursuing your dreams, taking chances, dreaming the impossible, facing your fears, and so on.

The book was very well packaged! It's important bc Im giving it to my granddaughter and it "can't have any "bo-bo's, GRAMMY!"

Most books I buy for my son I want them to have a good message, be inspirational, or have a lesson to learn. I feel like this book gives you all three. It is a book of quotes that I feel even most adults could benefit from as well as children.

I bought this book for my 2 year old daughter. She absolutely LOVES Olivia (books and tv show). I knew this book would be a bit much for my daughter but I'm hoping to save it for when she graduates or just needs a little "pick me up". She still likes to sit with me and read it, but I hope she get nostalgic when I give it to her years from now! The book is really cute though, the pictures go with the quotes perfectly!

So I got fooled (perhaps a harsh word) into buying this book as part of one of Amazon's bundles...with Missing Toy & Olivia Saves the Circus. I failed to read the detail on what the book is. It is a book of inspirational quotes. While not doubt the quotes are great (I've now added one to my facebook profile) this isn't a book for my 2 year old Olivia obsessed daughter. I may put it away and give it to her when she turns 18 or graduates from high school like another reviewer states. Also, something to note, none of the pictures of Olivia are new...if you've read all the other books you've seen these.In short...great book...but not a children's book.

My 6 year old granddaughter and I both love the Olivia series of books. I purchased this and found so many of the quotations led to meaningful discussions. And she learned, as well, about some famous people whose quotations were used in the book. She enjoys looking through it often. I recommend this for an introspective child, and/or for Olivia lovers!

My youngest daughter borrowed this book from her school library last month. Upon first read, I instantly fell in love. Every Friday, I asked her to recheck out this book. Realizing the impact this book can be, I knew I had to purchase it so the school copy could be a blessing to others. It's certainly not just for children! 💖

If your child likes Olivia, they will enjoy this book. It was a good little story that engaged my child.

様々な人の名言と、オリビアの挿し絵が、不思議とマッチしていて、にやっとしたり、にたぁ、っとなったり･･･。でも、どの名言も色々と考えさせられるので、この本を手に取った時の気分次第でどの言葉が自分に残るかは日々、変わります。「へぇ、この人がこんな言葉を？」なんて、びっくりさせられることもしばしば･･･。悩んだり、落ち込んだりした時に、この本を開くと、ふっと張りつめた空気が消えていきます。オリビアファンなら常に持っていたいでしょう。ファンでなくても、名言とマッチしたオリビアの挿し絵にふと笑顔になること間違いなし。大人向けかもしれません。というより、ここにある名言で子どもに切り返されたらたまらん、という大人の身勝手さゆえかも･･･?!

アメリカに住んでいるときからOliviaシリーズの大ファンで、毎年最新版が出るのを楽しみにしていました。その中でもDream Bigは逸品中の逸品。うならずにはいられないような名言の宝庫です。もちろんOliviaのイラストは洗練の一言に尽きます。プレゼントにもきっと喜ばれると思いますよ。私も家には必ず自分のものとは別に在庫を持っていて、大事な人へプレゼントしています。英語ですけど、必ずご自身の座右の銘が見つかりますよ。私のお気に入り　"If You can't convince them, Confuse them"は、会社で部下にも毎日言い聞かせてます（笑）

I didn't read the description properly and was surprised to receive a book of quotes rather than a story book but it's still a lovely book.

This is a cool book. Love this. Would recommend seller. As described in product, great book.A++++. Would buy from again.
