ACR WW-3 Res-Q™ Whistle w/ 18" (46cm) Lanyard, Card

This little whistle is terrific! It's hard to misplace as it is so brightly colored and is easy to wear under clothing as it is flat in design. If you are lost while hiking and are trying to attract the attention of others searching for you, this whistle will do it! And heaven help the mugger who gets this whistle blown in his ear! This would also be a great safety device for senior citizens living alone as it is so loud it can be heard outside through the walls of the house.SIX YEARS LATER: The whistle and cord still look and work like new despite even being worn in a swimming pool! I have recently found another great use for it. I have a rather naughty six month old kitten who was intent upon shredding all fabric-related things in my house. I had tried scolding and squirting her with water from .a squirt gun but she remained determined until I thought of using VERY SHORT bursts of sound from this deafening whistle. I have been wearing it around my neck for a few days and there is no more undesirable behavior! Amazing! I have caught her checking with me when she thinks about trying some new stunt to see if I am going to blow the whistle. All I have to do is touch the whistle with my hand and she finds something else to do. No more cat on the counter or table. No more being used as a chew toy or scratching post. It's great!

First let me say customer service was excellent with fast shipping and well packed.So I dont blame them because product quality was no great shakes.While the form factor on item is the best for a key chain whistle,on one the bottom where lanyard attaches it came off in my hand when I tried to put it on key chain. It was obvious that it just wasnt glued on,or melted on or however they attach it it just wasnt done.I was able to superglue it back on,but I wouldnt want to trust my life on an emergency whistle that came apart so easily. I also ordered the Gogo black plastic whistle and think it is louder (subjective) and for sure better built.I may replace this whistle for the Gogo on my keychain as I can still use this as a dog whistle when they get carried away,it does get their attention.I still give 4 stars because mine may have been a fluke and I dont want to rap seller because they did a fine job.Also I didnt contact seller because for the price its not worth making an issue of.and it was fixable.Hope this review is fair for us both.

The good: Tiny, lightweight, flat, requires very little air to blow, and quite loud. The whistle is the size of a matchbook and could easily disappear behind a badge, compass, or ride easily along with dog tags. It sounds remarkably like a household smoke detector, but a bit louder. There is a fair amount of back pressure, but requires very little air flow to make it sing.The bad: The narrow passages could easily be clogged with ice or mud.The lowdown - It's tiny form, low wind requirements, and strident smoke alarm sound make it ideal survival whistle for urban use, or as part of an Altoids survival kit. Mine resides in a travel first aid kit.

This whistle has a small profile (it's flat), so it's easy to wear it on your body. It would fit into any small pocket. There are no moving parts inside, so it should work in extreme conditions, although I have not tried it in cold weather yet. While it's made of plastic, it's not easily breakable (even if you step on it), but not completely indestructible. Quite loud. The only downside I found so far is that one has to blow reasonably hard to make this whistle sound, so it may not be the best option if you are looking for an emergency whistle for your kids.

Cheap and effective.While I would want a beefier sound if I was in a high traffic water way, for most every other thing this likely will fit the ticket.Sharp and Loud, even with minimal effort. It carries enough to be heard through walls and multiple doors.Good for saving your voice short bursts in a lost/emergency or if u need to wrangle a bunch of loud kids.did I also mention it was cheap in price?

Not the lime green whistle as indicated in description. No ACR logo on it either. Probably a Chinese knockoff. Not really that loud and probably not the whistle you want for on a boat in danger and far away from help. One star is for not sending the exact item in description.

I got this whistle to go with my kayak as a signaling device ( trying to keep things cheap ) and I am very pleased ; it's flat so it doesn't take too much space ,very light , it will never corrode , easy to find and above all it is LOUD , you have to try it to believe it , just the thing when you need to call attention to yourself in an emergency situation and for a few bucks you get a very good deal .

I buy these for myself, my family and friends. It's simply the best whistle for outdoor emergency use and I have at least one with me all the time. The flat form is good for in-pocket, in bag, or wearing with the lanyard even under the shirt. The sound is loud and shrill. It's weather resistant, meaning it works even when soaked. I know I can count on this whistle when I need it.
